RX-7 Replacement

RX-7 Replacement
I love my RX-7 dearly, but when I turn 18, and it gets signed over to me, it will be way to expensive to keep and maintain.
Plus it's got 170,000 miles, so the engine won't last too much longer. So, I'm looking for a nice, yet inexpensive car, with good miliage, but is also reliable. I was wondering what kind of car do you think is good for this role?
I don't care if it's sporty or not, but i don't really want a Civic or Accord.
Maybe somewhere along the lines of an Eclipse, but those are a little to pricey to buy for me.

Pontiac Fiero? The engine is loud and noisy, yet it's a pretty fast car. Stick with the RX-7. There aren't enough 1st gens cruising the roads.

well if it doesnt have to be sporty, as much as I hate them, I'd go with a toyota sedan.
They are some of the most reliable cars I have ever seen. My dad has had 4 of them, and his last one he had over 300,000 miles on it.
Most sportier cars like an eclipse are going to just as expensive to maintain as your 7, if not more.
I'd just keep the 7. My car has so many new parts in it now from my motor swap, its going to last a LONG time.

I wouldn't recommend the fiero OR the mr2... mid engine = very difficult to work on, especially if the fiero had a v-6.
I would make every attempt to hang on the the 7 if I were you.. you'll be kicking yourself later if you get rid of it. You won't get much on a trade-in for it anyway, so maybe you should keep it and get another reliable cheapo daily driver.
I had very good luck w/ an old '88 Ford Ranger I drove for years. My cousin still has it w/ over 150,000 miles.

Adam,
You've seen my 7. With routine care your engine may outlast the 280,000 I had.
At any rate, I also have an '87 Toyota Tercel, affectionately called The TuRD, modded with inverted aircleaner cover and holes drilled in the muffler Picked it up for $600 and I beat it up all day and has double the gas mileage as my SE.

I'd also stick with the FB. My rx-7 is my first and only car, I bought it when I turned 16 a little more than a year ago. I pay for EVERYTHING on it, and still have enough $ to go out whenever I want and afford to keep a g/f. They are very easy to maintain. My job sucks too, I only get about 150 every 2 weeks, I can't get any hours working here. But it is still much more than enough to keep up with maintainance. '85 GS, 131k miles, runs strong as hell, beats my friends stock -SE
