Rusted brake bolts help!

My poor RX was sitting in a guys yard for about a year ad before that who knows? The last time it was registered was 98

I'm trying to get the bolts off my brake calipers but all I'm doing is starting to round them off. and I don't want to have to drill the bolts, (I don't have a drill). I've tried WD-40 and MMO, no luck, what are other options?

Regards,
SUMO

Neither one of those is a decent rust penetrant. Buy a can of P B Blaster, Liquid Wrench or Kroil, if you can find it. The 2 you are using are worthless for breaking loose rusted parts

Yes that's a certainty that I'm using the right socket.

If the wont come out, break the head off and the caliper will pop right out, then use vise grips and muscle to break them loose from the mounting bracket. I had to do that with one, fun times.

I'm not sore if there is enough room around the bolt, but I find that a pipe wrench with a pipe over the end for extra torque will get off anything. Also, hitting the wrench with a really big hammer always helps. Turn the wheel so your wrench sticks out the wheel well, so you can get a pipe over the wrench.

Make sure not to ignore trochoids advice before doing anything. I had the same problem with my RX recently. The seats where rusted right to the floor. I got them off using liquid wrench and a few hours of letting that sit in their, they came off pretty slick after.

.. After getting them off, I realised the car wasnt worth repairing.

what size wrench are you using? Also before you strip things anymore, get yourself a good vise grip and that would get it out. Take a hammer and swing at it. There's not one bolt that I couldn't get off before on my car. Also the brake bolts are all grade 10 which are stronger and in return shouldn't break off as easilly as the 8.8 grade bolts

You prolly got 'em off by now, but here's something else to try after they've been soaked and had a half hour or so in the juice. Before you get a wrench on them, get out an extension and place the circular end against the rusted bolt...take a steel headed hammer and give the other end of the extension a couple of good whacks.

Now get that wrench on there and it should come off.
