Rust repar/woes

I guess there comes a time in every 7 owner's life when rust becomes an issue. I had posted before about mine. This is the biggest cancer spot on the car. While it does not look hard in some aspects it is fooling you. Rust runs all the way up to rocker rail seat mount and back to the suspension mount. What are some way's you would tackle this cut out the whole pan from mid rail back? I thought about that but then i would need someone to fab me seat mounts. Please give all insight as i begin to tackle this project in the coming days.

Also keep in mind i have minimum tools at hand but i did get a welder.

That and i decided to undercoat the whole underside while it sat during the snow season so i gotta remove that **** thank god it comes of with some paint thinner!

Well its looking like i have a few weeks of work ahead of me anyway. You never really know how dirty your car is till you strip the carpet and insulation. Well the whole drivers side tar **** came up in one piece i knew that was gonna be bad water got under it and did a nice number on the pan. now i am not looking to keep this car for years and years so i might just lay steel from under the pedals to the back or i guess the right way would be to cut the whole pan out from pedals back.
dunno what i am gonna do yet any thoughts? Passenger side looks super nice :P

You guys got it easy down south or out west.

Man......You wasn't kidding. That's some pretty nasty stuff. Just think you were sitting over top that boosting 10 psi! I would just patch panel that crap to get you by untill you can find another donor shell. It's not the end of the world, but damn close.

Ditto

I have a similar problem with mine, but I have a donor car for patching parts in.

I'm cutting mine right out and replacing that whole piece of the floor.

Ah yes, rust!!! lol My car got the cancer right behind the drivers seat too. The hole was large enough you could fit a small child through it. I wasn't suprised when the seat ripped out of the floor when i saw that mother of a hole! Since it was so bad I just primered it and patched it on BOTH sides, inside of car and under the car, and then I tiger haired the edges all around to keep as much water out as possible. Just enough so I can enjoy my first car!! I mean you might as well enjoy it as much as possible because once it's this bad what harm can you do to it?

Well i forgot to take some pictures of the panels but its all done and the nice black carpet gslse-addict gave me is in the car. Welding the floor was pretty hard and even harder before i realized i could burn threw the floor pan lol. Some minor stuff from the under side needs to be done but she is as good as new!

On the lookout for some nice T2 seats or maybe miata/rx8!
