TN Running rich

I just purchased an '85 GS

It has a very noticeable gas odor from the pipes.

It is carburated and stock.

The air pump was disconnected and I reconnected it. (I put the belt on)

There are two hoses hanging from the manifold side of the engine that I believe are supposed to connect somewhere in the exhaust system.(not Sure) Please clarify.

I guess I can try to adjust the air fuel mix but I am not exactly sure if the screw on the botom of the carb is the one to mess with.

Thanks for the comments.
