RPM's on a Drag race.

this REALLY depends totally on car, tires, teperature, and surface.
I launch my DSM at 7500RPM and don't spin - but it's AWD.
in your average, lightly modded FB, 205's out back that aren't special or anything but not total garbage - I'd probabaly launch at around 4500-5000RPM and slip the clutch just a bit.
the objective is to NOT spin the tires - but accellerate as hard as possible without doing so!

note he said SLIP THE CLUTCH, dont just drop it. if you do you're sure to have either a busted tranny or rear end. just wanted to emphasize that to make sure you dont go bust up your nice new FB.
oh and yeah it really depends on all sorts of factors, but if you're learning I'd say just go out and do a few launches on an open road. start at slower RPMs and work your way up slowly. that way you can get comfortable with it and understand your cars limits.
Practice makes perfect.
