yep, but also wouldn't putting your intercooler way out up front and low so the world can see create even more lag? thats more piping for the air to travel thru. isn't that why alot of guys use the v-setup inside the engine bay to keep as short a distance for travel as possible? god i'm so damn fat!!! gotta go to jack in the box now.

They put the intercooler in front so they can get more air to the intercooler. The V-mount was designed so it doesn't block any air to the rediators. Many 3rd gens have overheat issues.

i understand the reason for slamming it way up front, i'm just saying wouldn't it create a bit of better throttle response to have it in a v-mount setup? since the piping in and out is so short.

Yeah! But with twins, the throttle reponse is already unbelievable.

i noticed. got to drive a streetported fd a little while back. definately the jam!!!! but mainly i'm asking about the location affecting throttle response because i have mine mounted pretty damn close to the motor and the piping is minimal. i dont know what to compare it to though, so i'm wondering if it would make a difference putting it out up front for more air.

If you're IC is in front of the radiator and condenser then there is no need to move it any more forward.

I'd have to agree that although intercooling and bov arn't necessary at first. Because of budget restrictions many people don't have them but if you ever want full potential out of your turboed engine they will become essential eventually. I know right now I'm trying to finish up my 12att and trying to stretch my budget to accomodate intercooler and bov. Which looks pretty promising at this moment in time. Tomorrow is a different story though, because theres always something that I want for my car.

haha, i went over the top on both my intercooler AND BOV. Both can support more power than I can throw at my motor. (thats a spearch 3x18x24 and a turboXS Type H-RFL, or something to that effect)

Some say bov's aren't needed other people including me thinks it's better for the turbo. My friend's turbo broke and he suspected because he didn't have the bov. Who knows!!

well i has a bov on my blue car(680rwhp12a) and it wouldnt make more than 590 rwhp until i removed it(it was leaking badly).................

i have never seen a bov. break a turbo, think about it,most big rigs are turbo and they dont use bov's...... those turbos last 100k and longer!

hahhaha... thats because there is no throttle plate on diesels.

That comment scares me.

I thougt bov's reduced backspool, which isn't good for a turbo.

anyway, Sweet car man reminds me of mine. check it out here:

again, sweet ride.

They do. when the throttle plate closes (you let off the gas) it creates a pressure wave that bounces off the throttle plate and back towards the turbo. It stops the turbo almost in its tracks and can crack the wheel over time. Prolly doesnt help with shaft play either.

So you get worse performance between shifts because your turbo pretty much stops and can cause damage over time.
