Rotary Shack???

Has anybody ever bought parts from Rotary Shack in Cali? (rotaryshack.com) If so, what was your general impression of them?

I have had dealings with the "Shack" the owner, Rob has been very helpful and is clearly knowledgeable, competent and well versed in rotaries. I bought some parts they were exactly as described and Rob even performed additional labour at no extra cost to make my life easier. I recommend them highly.

I think 680 on the forum owns that shop. I doubt he would screw with any fellow forum members...Or else, lol

I have had dealings with rotaryshack.com. All went well, and I will do business again. If I lived closer, the guy would probably never get rid of me!!!!

true wankler's sole purpose on this forum appears to be that of waving the rotaryshack flag.

I would suggest doing a search on this forum for Rotary Shack to get a feel for this organization and their promotional tactics. Try this link entitled Rotaryshack.com/Mazdaracing.com that should help you in your decision about doing business or not.

The search function is your trustworthy friend around here.

I'll leave any further judgment to you.

I'm always suspicious when somebody with minimum posts jumps up and asks a loaded question outta nowhere instead of the usual "How do I get my car to blow away 5.0s for free??" AND THEN some other fellah pops up and says "it" or "they" are the greatest thing to ever happen to the rotary community since Felix Wankel....the synthetic oil thread was a classic propaganda piece...maybe this one was, too....

I wouldn't use either of them in the future after seeing their very limited website. I never heard of Mazdaracing before last spring and sounds like people either hate them or love them. Seems fishy ha? Then I never heard of Rotaryshack till January this year, don't know much about them yet. I never saw a thread saying racing beat or mazdatrix are really great or really bad.

Ive spoken to him on the phone few times. Robert was very helpfull. Unfortunately he was mistaken for doing some bad business from the past but it was totally FALSE. If you search you will know what im talking about. I recommend him to anyone who wants things done to their rotaries.

Well I went by his shop once to say whats up an have a look around and I was impressed. He had several cars he was working on, one he had just finished up and I wouldn't mind having a blow through set up like that. He was also very knoweldgeable and friendly. I'd do business with him.

It seems that people have mixed opinions about Rotary Shack and Mazda racing which have all be discussed in the past. I have yet to hear something bad about Robert at Rotary Shack. I recently purchased a 12AT and other parts from rotary shack, and had him do various other work to my engine. Robert is very knowledgeable and helpful. I have yet to receive my engine yet, but it should be coming any day now. I will let you guys know when it comes.........When it does come, anybody in the Seattle area is more than welcome to come over to my place and check it out.

Peace

Oh.... I see, you've already ordered an entire engine from him eh?!

Then why the heck did you post your original question about parts? Huh? Who are you? details please.

My name is Trevor, and I live in Seattle WA. If youre thinking that I'm affliated with Rotary Shack, think again. I posted this thread just to see what everybodys opinions were about the shop. I guess I should of posted this before I bought the engine. But then again, I didnt even know this site existed when I purchased the engine. Why are you so suspicious? "details please..."

If it's the website, then perhaps I can help improve their image in your eyes. Since I'm sure they'll read this - feel free to follow the sig, go to http://www.totalimmage.com and give me a call. </shameless plug>

I have been on this and other RX-7 forums for a while now and have read countless posts including most if not all of the ones about the infamous Rotary Shack. After reading them including all of the rebuttals *sigh* it has all left me feeling very suspicious whenever I see those two words together. I challenge you to just do a little homework by searching on this and other RX-7 forums about Rotary Shack. Maybe after reading a bit you might understand why I feel the way I do.

Now you ARE starting to sound like a mouthpiece for RS.....did you not even try to read through the gory details that innitab's link would have drudged out for you?

And 680RWHP12A, Robert, I know it goes against everything you want to do and everything your pride says you must do, but you've got to stay completely out of this particular thread and let it run its wicked course... you know everyone is again watching this one and it will eventually be closed by Acuspeed, but your non-involvement will be a more positive influence on your struggling rep here in this particular Forum than the behavior exhibited last time....trust me...

Well, you may of read into that a little too much. However the popular opinion still seems to be either you love or hate them relationship? Seems conflicting, which is the reason I'd not use them over the quality or limited website, but I still don't know why the hate/love extreme exactly? And yes, I would probably talk to someone who has nothing to gain from them before using them, but since I don't live near LA, I won't have that chance, since it seems most live near there.

I didn't know this, but isn't it be a conflict of interest to use the furum threads to sell through it and promote product/service without a benifit compensation fee to the furum operation for that opertunity? Is that true moderators? I may have to start promoting Rx-7 work myself then! Didn't know businessess were allowed to use the furum in that manner for promotional use without fees to the furum of some type.

I could whip up an improved navigation/page layout for a few hundred bones. I bill at $50 and hour and have done everything from $140 sites to $70K+ I don't charge extra for flash (I figure the time spent is time spent), and have a broad range of design styles here at the studio. Hell, the Art Director I hired did some work on a few presentations for N'Sync...

They're right though - first impressions matter a lot, and if they don't think your site is "professional" they will likely move on without giving you a call. This is the internet age, baby!

Apologies if I sound like I'm making a sales pitch. I don't typically pimp my business here - I talk about my 7, make jokes, contribute via tutorials with Carl...

Now that I've let my cat out of the bag, I promise to be a good boy and not attempt to use this forum for personal/professional gain - however I will not turn away clients that come to me through this forum.

Honestly, Im very picky about who I order parts with as well. I mean, if MazdaTrix didnt have the good reputation it does, I wouldnt have put my CC info onto a website that looked like it was made with geocities. I mean, compare that to SummitRacing or something, and they have a lame *** site. I just would feel more comfortable using a site that looks like they mean business. Not just a virtual "hole in the wall". I mean, like in real life. You go to an auto parts store with stained floors and greasy counters and messed up shelves. You get an impression. Now walk into an auto parts store thats neatly organized and has clean floors and a presentable atmosphere. I would just feel better in a place like that. It human nature. Anyway, the point was that impressions really DO matter.

I've never dealt with Rotary Shack, but I know and have dealt extensivly with guru and his shop (CP Racing in Orangeville, Ontario).

If he recomends the Rotary Shack, then I'd have absolutely no reservations about dealing with them.
