Smile Rotary Rocket

Digging through some old paper work I ran across a few pages of the Rotary Rocket magazine. I was wondering if any one remembers this magazine or still has the actual magazines. I subscribed to it for 2 years I think it came out quarterly and cost 25 dollars per year it came with a decal black with mother of pearl writing RX-7 I actually have two. The magazine was strictly devoted to the RX-7 and had tune up tips and mods and advertisements for after market products. Just like to know if anyone has saved the magazines.

I have about 6 issues from 84-85 that covered the initial release of the 2nd Gen cars.

These are pretty rare these days and should probably be scanned and hosted somewhere for everyone to get the benefit of them. The technical articles were very well written and included dyno testing to show before and after effects of modifications. Funny, too, to look through and see ads for Rotary Reliability and Racing along with their engine 'packages' what bumped HP up to about 250 on a N/A engine. Back then, about $500 would have bought you a lot of performance (1984).

The later technical articles having to do with design changes for the 2nd Gen cars lost my interests. I hope to find more sitting around in a dustpile somewhere in a closet, but don't have high hopes. Wish they continued to cater to the rotary enthusiasts.

Some dealerships were giving away free membership in the 'club' when they would sell a car - that's why I have the 1984-1985 magazines...

That would be a great idea if someone would scan them and host it. I'm sure Mazspeed.com would host it. Actually I would by a CD if somebody sold it. I love those old ads from Rotary Engineering and Weds.

I have one issue. I got the key fob (still use it) and a decal. Thats all I ever got from my membership. I think they went belly up that year. The cover is a wild car. Its a 3 wheeler with a 12A I think. Looks like a skinny batmobile.

Does anybody have any info about Rotary Engineering's glasspacks? I'm lucky enough to have some to play with. I just don't have any technical info about them.

I have one too! It's probably built similar to RB's presilencers.

Ive got two issues that came in a folder with all the recipets for my car. Maybe one day if im real bored ill scan them in. They have some pretty cool stuff. one issue has a small review of the draw-thru cartech turbo kit. and the other issue has a "RX-7 wheel buyers guide". It shows about 30 wheels for 4x110mm. pretty impressive. and about 70% of them are mesh.

We should list which issues we all have and and have each one scan (Kinkos?). I'll be happy to chip in some scan money.

I'd be for donating some $ for scanned magazines.. I wonder if Racing Beat or some of the rotary shops have all the early issues..That would be very neat to have..

Yeah- It's amazing to look at all the old goodies available for the 1st gens..My first RX-7 had a 13B SP built by Rotary Reliability & Racing..It was called the 'Killer Bee' package
