Rotary Replacement

Hi, i'm looking in to buying an '85 1.1L 12A RX-7 as my first car and I would like to know what i'm getting in to. What parts are most likely to wear out and what likely needs to be rebuilt in comparison with a regular engine with piston/rings/cylinders?

Rebuild kits run around 1k$. With a rotart, if something in the engine wears out it is rebuild time, be it a coolant seal, drinking more oil than needed, or even bad apex. These cars are a blast to have, but you are guaranteed to work on them as much as an 80's jag.

Also you MUST do regular preventative maintenance like change the oil regularly!!!

Also ALWAYS ensure the engine is up to operating tempreture BEFORE you drive it hard!!!

Way too many rotaries have died over the years from these two simple mistakes.
