is it 39 dollars per wheel/ i cant seem to find where on the site they are listed.......yes! this rocks, im excited, get these puppies ordered.......................by the way, kosei wheels are going out of stovk at tire rack, i emailed them and asked them to lower the price since it was going out of stock(the site said wheels running out of stock forever are at a special price) but they wouldn't, they are and always have been 516 dollars without shipping.....thanks but i think i'll take my rotas instead

rotrmotr 03-20-06 11:31 PM

Edge racing has a full page add in Grassroots Motorsports magazine- the kit is shown on the bottom right hand corner & comes with 16 studs & nuts for $39

rotrmotr 03-20-06 11:32 PM

They also sell forged aluminum lug nuts 16 for $39 but I think they are strictly for racing?

aussiesmg 03-20-06 11:44 PM

Is that the April edition page 85 ad, or May edition.

rbf41182gt 03-22-06 04:59 PM

well what's the color of your car?

mine's white, and I'm going with the gt-3's in black. Bronze would look good too.
on a red car, I think gold or black would look awesome.
on a blue car, silver or gold

ahh!!! can't wait! what tires are you getting? I'm thinking the kumho excta MX in 205-50-15

~b.k.

Rotary7s 03-22-06 06:05 PM

My car is white.
Black was my first choice

timmybighands 03-22-06 06:42 PM

Is this a group buy going on or no? I'm just uncertain because the first post seemed like it was asking for suggestions on what wheel to buy.

If it it a GB, count me in for a set of D2's.... and LMK whom I should pay, when, and how much. Thanks guys.

rbf41182gt 03-22-06 07:18 PM

yeah, it's a group buy type deal. Apparently, ROTA is going to make wheels to fit our bolt pattern if we can get 5 or more orders of one kind of wheel. The original puspose of this thread was to see who was intrested in what. The D-2's don't really have a following anymore, but it looks were going through with the GT-3's and J.SPL's

timmybighands 03-22-06 07:31 PM

^^ Great - thanks for the info. Just to clarify, they are drilling blanks specifically to fit the 4x110 pattern we have? That's VERY cool of them!

If there's not enough interest on the D-2's, I'll go with everyone else on the GT-3's. Same thing applies - let me know whom I'm paying and when.

rbf41182gt 03-22-06 07:59 PM

pm rotrmotr

i don't know if it's too late, he might have already sent out the order. I think they're around $400-450 for a set

ApG Spaz 03-22-06 09:40 PM

there really should have been an official thread in the group buy section i think

boog 03-22-06 11:26 PM

yeah, oh well......1st gen people are welcome thier i guess,...... ; ) (no one makes anything for our cars(compared to ALL others)) yeah i hope rotormotor lets us know what's going on....hopefully he's watching cause another person wants wheels.......

Hey Guys I apologize for not getting back earlier- hectic week at work- since I sit behind the computer at work- 10+ hrs in front of my computer screen- my eyes will shut down if I just look at the TV at home.

I spoke eith Rota today- he is making a call to the factory tomorrow to find out the results as far as pricing & lead time- I also asked if its ok to add more buyers- its no problem since the final OK has not been given yet- new buyers are:

KCKHAN - JSPL with black center
SGIELDON - JSPL with Gun metallic center
ROTARY7S - GT3 with black center

& TIMMYBIGHANDS please let me know if you are serious about the GT3 wheels & in what color?

Thanks all for your patience- the time is almost near!

rotrmotr 03-23-06 09:12 PM

I almost forgot- someone asked if the RB wheel is available (similar to panasport wheel) & it is! I will find more info on this wheel

boog 03-23-06 10:31 PM

dude, that wheel is sick! we would get q ton more buyers if you made a tgread for that with all the right info

Here is a pic guys! - Rota RB wheel in 15x7

justint5387 03-24-06 01:27 AM

i would get those RB wheels

timmybighands 03-24-06 05:30 AM

rotrmotr... I'm sorry. I just picked up a set of 15*7 Enkei rims tonight. I wish I had known more about these beforehand - I would love to have helped out with the GB. GL getting the rest together.

ApG Spaz 03-24-06 02:10 PM

might as well start over and see who wants the rb instead :rlaugh:

aussiesmg 03-24-06 02:22 PM

No not start over, just post if you want RB. Otherwise those who have already put there orders in are still in unless they notify Rotrmotr

KcKhan 03-24-06 02:33 PM

Sweet! i can get these in the 4X110 in the 15" size?

aussiesmg 03-24-06 02:42 PM

Yep, 15 X 7

13b4me 03-24-06 04:06 PM

D2's all the way... :)

ApG Spaz 03-24-06 04:11 PM

do we know the weight of the RBs?

and price..?

rbf41182gt 03-24-06 05:18 PM

hopefully the weight of the RB's aren't that much, but I know a lot of other panasport knockoffs are pretty heavy.

I would definetly go with the RB's (if they came with a black center), but I don't retract my vote for the GT-3's. If there's enough people who want to go with the RB's, then I'll switch over, but I don't want to lose my bid for the GT-3's.

Anyone else who wants the RB's?

Any idea on what colors they come in?

~b.k.

KcKhan 03-24-06 05:23 PM

Ive never bought aftermarket wheels before. what would be the best tires to put on these ?

rbf41182gt 03-24-06 05:37 PM

best kind? depends on what you want. All season or ultra high performance summer? competition tires maybe? :)

best size? probably a 205-50-15, again, depends on what you want

aussiesmg 03-24-06 05:40 PM

The first mock-up wheel was made to match the specs of a 15x7 (+18mm offset) wheel with 205-50 tires- this setup was too tight on the back of the front wheel- where the tire would touch the stock spring. the front was flush but too close to the fender lip. sorry no pics- the batteries in the digital camera were dead- so I put it to charge for the next setup-

The Second mock-up wheel was made to match the specs of a 15x7 (18mm offset) with 195-50 tires - this setup had more room all around with space for the tire to "give" when turning hard- see pics.

The rear wheel on both setups had more than enough room- see pics

Well- I will post the list of buyers I have tomorrow morning- if you dont see your sig- let me know or if you are interested just PM me your email address & the wheel type (JSPL or GT3) & color- I will contact Rota tomorrow to start things rolling- let me know if you have any questions-

Tire sizing info

boog 03-24-06 05:48 PM

sooooo, what's going on? prices? ; )

rbf41182gt 03-24-06 05:49 PM

what I don't get is how that setup with 205 tires didn't fit, when I hear of people putting those on (and bigger) and not having any problems. Plus, not many people make a 195-50-15 tire. (not the one's i want anyway)

KcKhan 03-24-06 05:59 PM

i dont drive my car much during the winter, so im thinking some good summer tires,

so the 15x7 is the 4x110 bolt pattern, like the stock wheels on a gs?

dont mean to sound like an idiot, im just pretty new to this

aussiesmg 03-24-06 06:03 PM

Yep all 1st gens have 4 X 110 except GSL-SE which are 114.3

rotrmotr 03-24-06 06:49 PM

Hey Guys- spoke with Rota today- got good news & maybe bad news for some-

They are 95% shure that they can make the wheels for us- will have updated pricing this Tuesday.

Because of the offset & bolt pattern (mostly offset)- the factory will have to test the wheel on their racetrack & on fatigue testing equipment- they want to make shure that there is no wheel failure during these conditions before they are sold. This means that more time is needed to get these wheels- with the testing & overseas shipping we are looking at about a month minimum- I know there are those that want these wheels now (including me) but I belive that at the price we are getting them- its worth the wait- plus this gives us time for more people to join the group buy thus reducing the price even more!

rbf41182gt 03-24-06 06:55 PM

i can wait, i'm not in hurry.

like you said, it's worth it.

boog 03-24-06 07:30 PM

hey rotor motor, give me a go ahead and i will ake a thread in the group buy section(maybe make a thread in here too and tell everyone about it and show off the fake panasport wheel to get more people) and you can just keep us updated while i bite my finger nails off in a flurry of impatience :) i can wait too, painfully tho especially if it gets even cheaper

rotrmotr 03-24-06 08:44 PM

thanks boog- no problem! the more interest/buyers we get on this group buy the greater the chances that Rota will permanently produce their wheel collection with our bolt pattern/offset- hopefully this will cause a chain reaction in the aftermarket wheel segment- who knows?

Rotary7s 03-24-06 11:36 PM

So the round about price on the wheels with shipping is about $500.?
I wouldnt consider it to be really cheap. For wheels that are being made in the Phillipines.

We should be able to get them wheels for about $75. each.
Look what they retail at,the "group buy" I think is only helping with the production of the wheels, not the cost.

What do them fake panasports retail at?
Last time I checked,Panasports were not that expensive.

Keep us updated.

Panasports aren't expensive? LOL!!!!!

boog 03-25-06 12:20 PM

they are pretty pricey...anyways everyone divert to the group buy thread section now for this and let this one die...............mmkay? see ya there

wecycle 03-25-06 07:18 PM

225/50-15 tires

The following are emails re 225/50-15 tires on 7" wide rims.
Weedwacker is running 225's while rotrmotr has said only 195's will work.
Maybe the 18mm offset is not the optimum for the Group Buy wheels?

I would like to use 225's on my SA but I have heard conflicting info on the best offset to use.
Dennis L. Cote

I just looked on my wheels and they say +10 on them. That seems pretty low to me but I'm not all to familiar with what it should be. All I know is that thhe wheels fit my FB perfect after the rolling of the fenders and the rims have a real big lip on them. I hope this helps in your dilemna.

I don't remember off hand what the offset is but the rims are 15x7 size. I'll find out as soon as I can what offset and let you know. The rims I have are Weds Autobahn's if that may help at all but either way I'll find out for you anyway.

boog 03-25-06 07:28 PM

hmm, i dunno i have heard anything from +22 to +10 now, are 195 size tires not a good choice?

aussiesmg 03-27-06 10:49 PM

Did some math and worked out that a 0 offset on a 7" rim will give us approximately 2 mm more rim inside and 37 mm more outside, this would avoid the inner rubbing problem but would it clear the fenders when turning?

Therefore a +10 offset would move the inner rim 1/2" inboard and the outer would be 1" wider.

Rotrmotr can you test this with the mock-up rim.

Any more info on this deal?

boog 03-28-06 02:53 AM

where is rotrmotr???????????????????????????? ? /\ foriegn language to me...ill email rota tom. or call and see if any progress has been made

I think it's a Great Idea to wait alittle longer to make sure that these Wheels will hold up to Stress the way that us RX Drivers put our cars thru Dailey. @ least some of us.
