yea he's been real busy lately. i spoke with him a couple days ago. just leave him a message with your number if he doesnt already have it and he'll get back to you when he can. there's one thing you'll learn about him, is to be PATIENT.

Man, when are they going to stop trying to call Robert out on this Forum? How is this a tech article again? It needs to be completely deleted...

It's still 1st-gen specific. He's also not bad-mouthing Robert, just asking how to get ahold of him.

Wow. The Forum is having big problems. I replied to this thread two days ago and now that piece is simply gone. What I said was that hammmy had me on the 1stgen specific thing. I mentioned that at one time, the word "tech" or "technical" used to be in the title, but if you look from the Forum home page to these pages now, it's nowhere to be seen or implied..

So anything goes now, boys and girls, as long as it's about 1stgens here !!!!

The other thing I pointed out was that everybody seems nice and innocent asking about Robert here in this section, then it invariably all goes downhill as we find out WHY they started the thread...

I wish he offered a "turnkey" turbo setup for a first gen... that would rock...

Thumbs down

i wouldn't do bis with rob agin if my life depended on it. he ripped me off and gave me a bunk direct fire kit and a webber setup that was done all wrong and i ended up having to spend lots more for my rx7 mechanic to tune it and put the correct jet settings and remove crap i didnt need. + it took him 3 weeks to ship a damn carb.

I always love hearing the stories at the shop about how it actually happens behind the scenes... guys that couldn't tell their ***** from a socket call up asking why the manifold he custom made AND (as I've seen him always do) test fitted, doesn't "fit" and claiming Rob is ripping them off... then call back a few hours later saying they figured it out and it fits.

Then there are the ones that never figure it out... and just bitch all day long about it... and then end up paying some other mechanic out the *** just for him to say "Oh yeah, this was ALL WRONG (snickering) I had to fix so much!!! MONEY ME PLEASE!"

Its interesting that many firms are giving up replying to emails. One company I deal with openly says yes we have an address, but we don't tell anyone as we don't have time to play pong-pong with e-mails. If your enquiry is serious we are worth a $1 phone call.

What a lot of people forget time is money, so if you are working flat out on actually building an engine for a client for a weekend competion you dont have time to spend 5 minutes on an unproductive enquiry.

Robert is no different from anyone else in having to balance his time.

Customers think that rotary business owners just sit around in front of their computers with phone beside one hand and mouse in the other, waiting for calls and emails. The reality is that almost any rotary shop or business is small time stuff, usually with just a couple of employees, if not a one man operation. Even though there are lots of rotary guys in the country, this is still a pretty small niche market. So that means that whoever the workers are, they're most likely...working. It doesnt make sense to talk on the phone or computer to you, who might potentially bring in some work, when they have several jobs already sitting right there in front of them.

Thats just Kevin's way of being honest,

I would put stock in either the Shack or Resurections as they are both small business. From my personal experiences as a small business owner in the past, most SBO will bend over backwards to keep their clients happy, and the ones that complain are the same ones that will whine anyways the same ones that spend 10 bucks and then badmouth you for months on end (some for years).

FWIW any small business that has truly poor practices will fold really quickly regardless of the product, and as long as rob and kevin have been plugging away they couldn't be too bad (At least Rob anyways) don't worry Kev, your still my favorite FT

Kevin-great informative website and I fully support your sentiments. Wish I knew as much as you do, but then I would be always be trying to improve my Rex to the ultimate rather than just being happy with using one as a daily driver.

I can relate with that I started a small business of my own [working on C\F parts for the 1st gens] and it is hard to talk to you guys on the net and on the phone @ times. hell I will be doing a clutch over this weekend [5\27\05] and brakes the next weekend and so on and so on..

So be pashent and he will pop up soon. [just like me lol!!!]
