Right wheel size? (bye bye C-Stock)
Alright, I just bought some nice sticky Hoosiers for my car, now I'm wondering what the best wheels size to get would be. Keep in mind, these are purely track wheels, so for some of you all our there the size might sounds a little weird, but...
I'm going to be running 225/45-13 until those die, then going to the Kuhmo 235/45-13.. What is the proper wheel width for these? 8" 9"??? I know I need a 4" backspacing, but what width would keep the tires "square"
Thanks...
and for those who care, I got these...

That's the plan... Definately going to have to redo the suspension before they'll fit though. Have to lift that sagging front. Bring on the coilovers

Hmm... why do I hear about VW'ers running 13x9's for 215/50 tires?
I'm curious... thinking about a widebody kit for various reasons (mainly 'cos it'd be cheaper than getting a new car
) and I need something to FILL them. I recall a 2002 racer who ran 245/45-13's in the rear, I wonder what size wheel HE used...

i worked at a tire shop and besides putting 305 50 15 and 295 50 15 on s10s i liked rx7s a lot. had 3 of them so far. for that size tires 225 45 13 you should be fine with a 7 inch rim. a 225 45 17 rim is taller but width and height of sidewall is the same and a 7 inch is fine for it. 8 inch would pull tire out more. ive put kumhos 225 45 16 on my old 16x8 and its fine. on the 7s protects the edge of the rim more but on edge should get a wider look

FWIW, I know Hoosiers tend to run "large" for their sizes, but they recommend an 8-9" rim for 225/45-13 tires. They don't list a 235/45-13. (I know Kumho does...) So given that, 13x9's should be OK if they'll fit under your car, might need to get wheels that allow the tire to clear the strut OK (probably 4-4.5" backspace?) and then modify your fenders to suit. 3.5" B.S. on 13x7 wheels causes my tires to rub the fender lip on extreme compression, but there's tons of clearance at the strut, so it could probably come in a bit, but remember the narrower the rim, the more the tire bulges out and also the more the tire moves around, so if you get a relatively wide rim for a tire you can run it closer to the strut.
Of course, if rules mandate a 13x7 rim with zero offset (3.5" B.S.) then that's what you gotta run I guess...
