Rev Limit @ 6500

After I put on my RB HEADERS AND PRESILENCER I noticed that the redline beep, beeps @ like 6500 and beforw used to beep at even 7100. Which do I go by????

Please for all who are going to tell me to take off the tach and theres a little screw and just adjust it.....NO I'd think that theres more to it than just adjusting that lil screw. I mean is that something that happens that you just adjust it and everythings okay. I dont want to get the wrong reading. I may be wrong also thats just what i think.

Anyone come across a similar situation????

PLEASE HELP

RYAN

It's supposed to beep at around 6500RPM.

Maybe your bolt-on **** fixed your car

I believe the redline buzzer comes in at 7000 RPMS. That is, of course, where redline for the GSL-SE 6port 13b. Unless of course my car is broken as well.

But in regards to your problem, I have no idea what could have caused it... aside from possibly a faulty tachometer.

Just shift when it stops pulling!!

Are you trying to adjust the over rev buzzer or are you trying to enssure that the tach is working properly??

just disconnect the buzzer.

i was goofing around under the steering column and when you put power to this green wire, you get a high pitched buzz, and I'm assuming thats the buzzer because I've never actually had the thing go off during a drive. Just find that wire and cut it . Why was it under the steering column? I'm not sure... but something down there buzzes.

Is the car much faster now? The Stock Tach is notoriously slow to react. The Buzzer may be right, but the tach may be slow in getting the true readings over to you.

the buzzer is behind the tach it should buzz at 7k. its really cool. theres an adjuster thingy too to set it to like 7500rpm or even 8000rpm from what i remember on one of the threads here.

hell no man..disconnect the buzzer thats the collest thing in the 7 other that the BALANCE/FADER joystick thingy. so cool when you race just go and rev and vroommmmm and BEEEEEEEP! shift.

connect back the wire that you cut and rev your baby to 7k and get rid of some of that carbon! see if it beeps.

thanks very helpful comment as well as MOREMAZDA, really helpful in solving this prob...

well ive noticed that after the headers; YES the car revs faster. ill rely on the buzzer to ensure the motor vroooommmmm BEEEPPPP! vrooommmmmmmmmmm BEEEEEPPPPPP!!!! that ***** so cool.

Directfreak ive notice almost the same on my other SE with lightend steel flywheel, 4.44 gears that it tends to beep like 6700-6800 not quite 7k so i thing that you right the buzzer is right and the tach just cant react quick enough.

what can i do to get a proper reading?

thanks everyone

Unfortunaly, only an aftermarket tach will get you better readings. A look I have never liked in a street car.

Just get used the buzzer.

Seeing as how Directfreak is correct about the slow update of the stock tach, (especially the '79 tach it seems) the buzzer is your guide that you are hitting redline. Seeing as how you're not making much more usable power past redline, even with a RB system, just shift when the buzzer goes off.

It's easier on your motor, and you will not notice a difference in speed. I don't, anyhow. Basically, Mazda isn't stupid. If they put the redline at 7k, there was a reason for it.

You can tell if you're 'outrunning' your tach pretty easily -- Just stick it in 1st or 2nd gear and slowly rev it up to redline (give the tach a chance to 'catch up). See what the tach reads when the buzzer goes off...

If the tach is slow and the buzzer works off the same feed, then why does the buzzer go off at the right rpm even when the tach is wrong???!???!???

Maybe the needle is just slow. The buzzer goes off when you reach a certain voltage right? So it has a lot less lag
