6 x 9's are the worst speaker ever invented.

As far as the stock speaker location, yeah, it sucks. I mean, they are wedged up against the dash and fire straight across your legs... Hence why I'm doing the custom stuff. I'll get to work on it today and give you guys some pics.

Due to the oval shape of the speaker, it doesn't have equal excursion around the perimeter of the speaker.

Take a look at any "sound-off" or competition stereo system... You'll notice one thing they all have in common. No 6 x 9s or 4 x 10s.

Fair enough. I've never felt the need for anything bigger than a 6 1/2 anyways, i was just curious.

The Wife's Protoge has 6x9's in the rear...

I have 5 1/4" Sonys, 6 1/2" Sonys, and a 10 inch Earthquake sub for my FB. That should be good enough.

We'll see.

I'm going for 6.5" Infinity's front and rear and a Kicker 8" Solobaric for bass...

I agree with what you say but most of the competition sound systems are bass heavy. So the small sizes keep playing the highs and mids. But if you want some punch without resorting to subwoofers, 6x9's are a "sound" investment (pun intended). Course they won't play heavy bass but for just listening they are good enough.

I've had my fair share of 6x9's and I would take a good 61/2 over them anytime. Spend the money and they will far out perform your 6x9's. Whats the best 6x9 on the market? Not sure, never saw any at a car show.

I installed the 4 inchers. They sound good I like that I can still use factory speaker grilles. Excellent highs. Next week I get 6x9's.

Time to bust out the 4 channel amp . Hope it works out like I planned.
