removing emissions stuff etc.

This is my first post, glad to find such a good website/forum.

I have recently been "given" a 1984 GS in trade for detailing work done on the previous owners new car. Here is what I Know about it...

1)It has a 12A Rotary Engine. with a 5 speed.
2)The clutch pedal sticks at the floor (if I grab it and pump... it starts to work.
3)The exhaust needs to be replaced from the cat back, it is bent about 45 degrees before the axle.
4) It will not idle, and runs mostly on one rotar.
5) I want to fix it moslty myself, cheap, but right and I do not care about the cat. or emissions or being legal maybe not too noisy though.

here is what I have done to it or found out:

I cut the exhaust off just past the cat and emissions tubes to eliminate the bend.

I figure the clutch slave cylinder is junk or maybe there is air or a leak in the system. If a reach down and grab the pedal and then keep pumping clutch works fine.

I found the "shutter valve" linkage thing to be broken, blocking the hose that goes to the valve/diaphram seemed to help it idle and run on both rotars for a while...so I removed the emissions rack thing with all the colored connectors, mostly to get at the carb bolts, The carb I took off to get at the Shutter Valve. then I thought, I bet guys just yank this thing right out... which leads us to

My question:

What should or can I remove or not re-install as far as emissions.
I want it to be a reliable fun cheap daily driver in the summer.

thanks for any help.

Oh and your clutch slave cylinder needs to be replaced. You might as well go ahead and replace the master cylinder while you are at it.

It is in a post a couple away from this one. It is a large file, so if you have dialup it might take a while.
