6 ports
from my understanding.. the 6 port motor works kinda like a vtec system on a honda motor.
at low rpms, the 2 additional ports are closed which in turn have some effect on the dynamic chamber/intake air velocity. I had to remove the "6 ports" when I bolted on my turbo setup. I was told that, with the "6 ports" removed.. it helps top end.. but you loose a little power in the lower RPMs.

The pineapple sleeves are a replacement for the stock 5th and 6th port sleeves. The sleeves are there for a damn good reason, and you will gain very little to anything in your high end. Also when you yank them out you can kiss good bye to you lowend. Seriously we dont have much of a low end to loose anyway.
Also the reason why turbo motors are four port, is because the engine is force fed rather than naturally. With the engine force fed you can have much larger ports without worrying about too much of a loss on the bottom end.
Anyway, KEEP THOSE 6 PORTS IN!

If the engine is an SE then you can remove them or wire them open and still notice little loss at low end. GSL-SE engines had the heaviest rotors of any rotary and gives them an amazing amount of low end. If your going carby then I would remove.
Good luck

Before desciding on the pineapple sleeves, you should first read some of the threads on this site about reports of some of the pineapple sleeves coming apart and destorying the engine. I believe that the was just for the inserts, but I would check it out first before desciding. I personally have not tried them, but I bet that you should be able to at least get some gain with them. I do recommend that you do keep sleeves of some kind in for a NA setup.
