Red line buzzer wrong
So I have a 84 gsl-se and its buzzer is going off at 6k. I thought that it was supposed to go to 7k. Why is it doing that and what can I do to fix it?
One other problem is that it is running really rich. Smells like fuel all the time. What is the fix for that as well?

It's the "oh, it must be time to shift" noise for a lot of people.
But be forewarned, right before my alternator gave up, the red line buzzer went down to 6k rpms and then the car ran for a little bit then just driving down the road it slowly died, we had to jump the car off every five or six blocks...boy traffic hated me that day.

Well it looks like again that I have to result to taking it to the shop to get it figured out. I dont know why every time that I post something on here, and I think that someone can help me fix, no one can. So another question is where is there a good 7 shop close to Iowa?

The link shows how you can adjust the over-rev buzzer. You do have to take the cluster out to do this, though. If you have a multimeter or can borrow one from someone, you can adjust the pot shown in the link to set the over rev to whatever you want it. They seem to adjust some with age. I know mine used to go off at ~6500 rpm (what it should be stock), but now it takes 7k or so for it to go off.

the 79/80's have them. mine used to go off at 8K and the other one just didnt work...
the 82 GSL i drove had one at 7K like most rx7's i have been in...
the 84 GS had one at 7K... when a friend rode with me, he would always ask what happened to the buzzer if he didnt hear it going around a corner....

Is it possible that the buzzer was an option? The only reason I ask, is because the only tachs I found the buzzer (BZ on back of gauge cluster) hooked up was on an 84. I totally stripped down both my 85 parts cars (1 was a GS, other was GSL), so if ANYONE has a pic of the buzzer itself, that would be nice to see.
