Reconditioning Housings?

I haven't been around the rotary world for long, so I don't know what all is out there. My question is, are there any people or companies able to recondition rotor housings? Seeing as new 12a engine parts are becoming more impossible to find each day, this could be a great market to be getting into. I don't know how practical it is, but one would think there must be a way to replace the chrome plating or maybe install inserts (kinda like cylinder sleeves). There are plenty of housings out there unusable because of bad flaking or whatever. If only there was a way to put these back into service rather than see them melted down for scrap and gone forever. If anybody knows any answers or has any thoughts on this, please drop your 2 cents.
