rear wheel bearing question
just wondering if anyone knows of a tutoral for changing the rear wheel bearings on an axle with drum brakes. when i searched, all i found was this thread: https://www.rx7club.com/1st-gen-archive-71/drivetrain-replacing-rear-wheel-bearings-557114/ and its for an SE. are the drum brake axles going to be the same process?

Teardown is a little different because of the different brakes, but the process of removing the old bearing and installing the new,is the same for all 1st gens.
It can be done by the do-it-yourselfer,its best to let someone with a press handle the install,to insure there is adequate pressure on the retaining collar.
That said,I have in the past, succesfully changed rear bearings with just handtools,a grinder and a large pipe.It can be done, and I never had any problems........but a bearing/collar coming loose can be a very bad thing, especially on a drum brake car where the axle can come all the way out and exit the vehicle.

thank you for the advice!!! i plan on pulling my VERY noisey rear end and replacing it temporarily with a good used drum brake rear end until i can replace the rear end with a disc brake rear end or rebuild the rear end i pull from the car. i want to make sure i get it right, thats why i'm asking questions when i'm unsure of the answer. it looks like the parts are fairly inexpensive through black dragon. i just hope that the parts are pretty good quality parts.
