Rear axle dust sheild mutilation...
The machine shop mutilated the dust sheilds when removing the bearings (hooray for college)... all i have left to secure the shaft is the stamped steel piece...
I need more input.. the shop as agreed to replace the bearings/retaining collar/ and dust sheild if I can find a pair or use replacement bearing retainers. Any suggestions or help is appreciated.. the vehicle in question is a GSL 82 (3bolt retaining plate) non-SE. I have already searched and all I can find retaining plates for is a GSL-SE large axle
thanks

I would tell the shop to find the replacements themselves. They ruined them, they're responsible. Besides, they probably have better connections with the savage yards than most of us do. My guess is they don't want to source them because: 1. It's a rotary 2. Their time will cost them money and they've already lost any profit the may have seen from the job.

RE-SPEED has the upgraded axle retainers.... Don't worry about the dust shield.... When upgraded my rear brakes the dust shield got trimmed (like a triangle shape) around the 3 bolts and the rest got removed. They have a little clip that holds the flex line but, works fine with out that. You just gotta make sure that the flex line won't rub on anything.
