Re-attaching side trim strips

I removed the side trim strips to have the car re-painted. Now I want to put them back. I tried some trim-strip cement that came in a tube but it wasn't strong enough to hold. Does anybody have any recommendations?

You could try some 2 sided tape, try searching for a weatherproof 3M version. Personally, i'd leave that crap off, it heavy and looks bad.

Yup - the 3m stuff. Make sure the paint surface is completely oil/grease free. Wash it down in rubbing alcohol first. Mine rubber strips had hardened so much that they were no longer flexible, so I put 2 layers of the adhesive strips. Also it was a little cool out, so I used a hairdryer to warm both surfaces and the make the rubber pliable. After that stick it on (you've got ONE shot to get it perfect). Then put some pieces of masking tape crosswise over the strip and leave it overnight, then remove the tape. If you do it this way, the paint will then come off before the strip ever does.
