RCCAZ - Weekend club event to Prescott, AZ...
Just a quick thank-you to the members of the Rotary Car Club of Arizona (RCCAZ) that welcomed me on their trip up to Prescott this last Saturday (5/8). I headed back to Phoenix after Wickenburg, but definitely enjoyed the drive and seeing the other cars in attendance.
For those who may be interested, this club gets together occasionally in the Phoenix (AZ) area for club events including drives up to cooler Northern Arizona.
Not being a member of the club, I decided to drop by the 'starting point' for this past weekend's trip up to Prescott through Wickenburg, Gerome, and Yarnell. This particular roadway has been a favorite route of mine since highschool when I used to take my 80LS up there for some twisty mountain roads. This particular road into Prescott offers mountain views, mostly 2-lane twisty curves (20-45mph posted), and plenty of passing lanes in the more open sections - fantastic roads for a rotary powered car of any generation.
At the startup point, I rolled in and found about 3-4 1st Gen cars, a single FC, and about 3-4 FD's in addition to 2 RX-8's. Lucky for me, several members recognized my car from around town (and around the boards here), and were more than happy to talk about their cars, their projects, and the club.
After the quick trip up to Wickenburg, I turned back to get on with my 'honey-do' list for the weekend, but sincerely enjoyed the open-country drive. Hope you guys had a great time on the rest of the trip, and if you went, post here with the outcome.
I was curious if Glen had any further problems with his yellow GSL and the mysterious cooling system leak that he uncovered in the McDonald's parking lot.
Take care, and thanks again,
