good choice. I had a magnaflow with headers and straight pipe and it would vibrate the change in my friend's car who was driving next to me...swapped a RB muffler and its alot more mellow....not sure if i like it though Gonna swap back cuz its just more badass

It's the roadrace type... the collector is getting wacked and then the inlet is 2.5"

If I knew the 81-82 was 2.25 I would of definatly went with that since thats the diameter piping I'm running... ohhh well.

I'm going to videotape the tone of my current muffler so I can compare the two... For $350 I hope it's worth the difference.

Good choice. Same muffler I'm running. Well actually I have the whole SP system. The only problem I had with it was the over axle part was a bit tricky, partly because of how low the car was on the jack stands, and partly because the axle just didnt droop enough. I love it though, totally worth the money. Good mellow idle tone and she just screams at 7000RPM. For the money I doubt I could have been more impressed. As an added bonus, I won't be replacing it due to regular wear anytime soon

Once the 12A for my FB is rebuilt I'll be using the RB Road Race header and I'll be making my own dual center section with no presilencers and bolting it to the Road Race muffler

Thats my primary appreciation for the RB.
Forget that it handles glowing redhot, behind a streetported 14psi 13BT,forget that it passes CA noise regulations, forget that it fits and tucks in like the stock muffler.......its the fact that for 350 bucks,I have had almost 8 years and 50K miles where I didn't once have to doubt, worry or think that I might need to replace it. And it just keeps on going, like that Energizer bunny!

Looks like you got the '81-'82.

Racing Beat says it's 2.375 after the Y. http://www.racingbeat.com/resultset....rtNumber=16433

As far as I've found on RB's site, that's the only option. There aren't 2 different types of the same style

Here's a video of my current muffler...

Racing Beat header and presilencer into 2.5" piping to the muffler (r-active removable tip type)

Startup, idle, 3K, 4K, redline....

I've been driving around with this set-up for about 4 years, & since last Sept as a daily driver.

I love my Rb Exhaust.. I sounds awesome and it'll last forever! I had a Magnaflow on it when I got it and it was fabbed up to my SP exhaust but it was WAY too loud...

Thumbs up Rb Muffler = Big Thumbs Up.

Muffler's on... SUPER HUGE DIFFERENCE.

Start-up... to 3K... to 4K... to redline.

It took some driving to get used to knowing where to shift by noise alone... you can actually hear my fuel pump over the exhaust in both the video and while driving.

That certainly sounds good. Very familiar too. I can hear my Carter pump over it at idle. Thats the beauty of a well designed exhaust. Nice and quiet when you need it to be, and screaming when you want it to.

There are a bunch of exhaust companies that are well suited for the rotary but at the same time cost a pretty penny...It cost to play...So for example you have mega flow, flow master, hks, apexi, greddy, i guess racing beat if your going for sound not power!!! and many out of the country mufflers that dont hit the states or never been heard of...By all means racing beat is a great product for street use...but for high high horse power application i guess it's not the greatest...i should have clarifyied that before you guys started jumping the gun...trix are for kids so stop flexing...

And if you think they are restrictive, just ask me how well my car accelerates. My setup is the epitomy of long term, high temp abuse in regards to rotary mufflers, and the RB unit I installed over 7 years ago is working just fine today.
As i can see from his thread he was only going for quality, and the assurance to know that his new exhaust stystem would tone down his previous exhuast system...more power to him...sounds good...nice choice i guess...
