Rattlecan close to Sunbeam Silver Metallic? (K3)
Anyone found a shade of Krylon or Rustoleum that's close to the stock K3 - Sunbeam Silver Metallic?
I've been told that when I get in Spec-7, I'll be going through doors, fenders, and probably front end parts like nobody's business.
Since the car's silver, I'd like the parts to match. Unfortunately, the junkyard doesn't offer the selection, and I'll have to get what I get, be it blue, black, red, rust, bondo, or whatever...
I'm sure as hell not paying for a respray everytime I do something on the track, so a nice rattlecan jobber would be great.

I don't know of any; however, if I were going to be doing a race car like in a Spec-7 class, I would probably rattle can my entire car one color to ensure that every new body panel could be matched. Either that or just run mismatched stuff.

Its going to be easier and cheaper to buy a quart or gallon of paint at a time of like laquer or enamel from napa or something similar. Then buy a $30 gravity feed gun from eaither Tractor supply or walmart. You'll get a better job then you would with a spray can, and it'll match. Just so you know, a gallon goes a long way on our small cars when your doing it that way.

Thats going to be expensive, real quick. Like I said, you can get a quart or gallon of cheap paint, thats one part, a little bit of thinner, and a $30 paint gun from the same place or a farm supply. That way if you want a touch up, you can brush if you want, or throw some in the gun. Oh, I just want to make sure you get a gravity fed gun, much better.

So your going spec7 racing eh? You might want to get a gallon of bondo and some body tools to add to your racing supplies. Cheaper than replacing bent sheetmetal. Let us know when you get the rubber chcken.

I find that the small cans of duplicolor you can get anywhere seem to look prety good and at 6-7 dollars a pop Id take these over paint gun and a bucket of paint anyday. You can also get custom mixed paint in a bigger aerosol can for 15-20 bucks, just look in the yellow pages under automotive paint, most bigger shops should offer that service.
Only way I would go to a paint gun and a gallon of paint is if I had a serious area to cover. I like not having to worry about cleaning any paintguns/tips, and just being able to slap a coat of color on anytime any place like nothing. Id start with a rattle can until you see how much your car gets banged up.
