Rats nest Before and After pics

Ok heres another question about removing things. If I want to take my AC off do I have to do any special things with the pulleys? Because there would be one less belt right? And the Airpump that will come off when I get my exhaust. So what do I do about that belt? I'm probaly going to wait and do all of this at once.

Yeah, I figure I have a lot of work ahead of me! It is pretty jerry-rigged! I bought it completely as a project car. The complete wiring harness is shoved into the spot where the airbox used to be. It should be fun, I just want to say you people have supplied me with some great info. so far, Thanks!

Importguy,
Maybe we can get Jim to show us what to do. I think he has done it once or twice. I'd love to get rid of as much junk as I don't need. I also need to install an oil cooler (at the filter) from my parts car.

You also have more blockoff plates to make.

Why has nobody pointed out the tutorial???

Be sure to donate some $$$ so they can continue to give us highly detailed (and well-scripted ) tutorials for the do-it-yourselfers. Plus...you get a really cool printout which i suggest you laminate and show off to all of your friends. They will get really jealous.

no its not just for the fun of it that they put it there but it makes your car just effecient enough for none of us to care what the hell it does. but if you plug everything up correctly you get a little bit more power and less fuel efficency.

And who gives a **** about mileage these days anyways? POWER, POWER, POWER!!! Show me a rotary that gets honda gas mileage...if its gas mileage you want, buy a metro...

I like how we call it the "rats nest" all the time..LOL. I'm going all out for a friend on her project car -I'm rebuilding a engine and getting the setup as reliable and low maintance as possible. Taking off the entire "rats nest", pulled the shutter valve and plugged, obviously the ACV, no emissions-straight pipe, and all non-needed crap on the carb now having rebuilt it. This is mainly for me though, since I'm in-charge of fixing any things that go wrong in the long run.
I'm sure I'm not alone in saying I just hate to work on a rotary with that mess of vacuum tubes, etc. With the shutter valve removed, getting the rear carb bolt is a piece of cake then. These cars are amazingly simple/easy to work with when you have it without any hint of emissions in mind. Also, I like no air pump and with headers, you can slide a oil pan under the car and you can reach the oil pan drain without raising the car, how many sports cars can you do that with?

I agree, these are MUCH better to work on without the various nest crap. I couldn't get to ANY of the carb bolts with the emissions crap installed!
I also advice removal of:
AC (if not necessary)
Cruise (How many actually still work?)
Hot/Cold start assists
Choke (if not necessary)
Anything that doesn't actually DO something after removing above items
