I got a set for $300 shipped in poor condition, and I'm going to paint or powdercoat mine, but...

Those look like they were very poorly repainted to look like new. Whoever won them, take closer pics when you get them. I think I see overspray.

Yes, it will be a cruiser when I am done with it. Gotta work on the Mustang though first. Those wheels are pretty neat but I like my rotor wheels better. If anyone wants to give me close to 400 bucks for them though......

i could possibly be persudaed to part with a set of my pretty cool SA rims, and i could also be persuaded to by some rotor shaped ones as well IanS but i would need pictures to know which rotor rims they are as i know 3 different types 2 of which i have no interest in.

BTW the rims that everyone was looking at are the Early type Alloys I have never seen them associated with any 7 that was built after Nov 78, this information was backed up by my friends that still work for mazda and did at that time. The other "cool" history on this type of rim... they were nearly the same as the 78 cosmo factory alloys. The look was the same most of the differences were 14 inch (cosmo) 13 inch (rx7) different bolt pattern (4x120 compared to 4x110).

Anyhow there it is.... my 2 cents stretched to 5 bucks

PM doc, Mazdax605 and 7SpringsMisfit, they all were bidding, and willing to pay more than I am.

I was only willing to go as high as $225,and that was only because I didn't have to pay shipping on them,as they were local to me.I really do like the looks of those rims.I would probably trade a set of my 83 LE rims for a good set.

Wow - this started a real bidding war! Not my actual intent - just didn't want to see these missed by someone who might appreciate their uniqueness. $327? Makes me feel a bit better about what I paid for the 5 new ones like these I got a few yrs back - and Rotary Dude, these are actual OEM RX7 rims, though i know what you mean about them looking similar to earlier Cosmo RX5 rims. Got a pic of them right in my Parts book. Hope the bid winner will fess up and show us the rims on his ride at some point-

I have only seen 2 variations of the rotor wheel and it was all about the centercap either saying MAZDA in them or not. Mine say Mazda and are probably not the ones you want. They look just like the ones that everyone sees in the pics. Mine came from Germany if that helps at all. Do you have a pic of these 3 different types?

actually those are the ones i want

most everyone else wants the other ones as they are a little bit wider and can take a larger tire. (these also were supposed to come with a metal centercap)

the ones you have are the ones i need for a restoration project (with the plastic mazda centercap)

The third type i don't have a current picture of they were really triangle shaped more than anything but a bunch of guys here in Tx thought that they were really cool rotor shaped every once in a while i actually see them posted brand new by different rim sellers on ebay.

IanS attached is pic of the ones similar to yours, I only have one set of these left but are 13 inch these have metal center caps if you can find them none of mine had them when i got them. Notice the difference esp in the apex seal area, the 3rd set i know of doesn't have the apex seal groove at all.

Stu you are absolutely right they are OEM rims, just for information for the folks is that these were the early OEM Alloy if someone got them on a new 7 in 80 or later a dealer installed them. I know you know your stuff i have the same parts book you do, just we never see them in any of the literature or sales books and I will be honest I think that of all the US spec rims These are the nicest. Yes the 79 LE rims are pretty cool and the 83 LE rims are sweet as well but you just have to see these rims really clean on Black car with White block letter tires it was very very sweet.

Hey 7SpringsMisfit,

How long have you had that car?Where did you get it?I ask because I know of a guy that had a car just like that complete with the brown striping for sale locally to me.He had it on ebay, and really wasn't describing it very well,so I told him to re-list with a better description, and it should sell for the $3k price range he wanted for it.He lived on Cape Cod MA,and the car was in pretty good shape aside from some rust under it,but nothing real major.

I love that Solar Gold paint, and the gold alloys are great.I want to get my regular silver alloys on the car someday, but I bought 14" tires for my 83 LE wheels, and while they look nice I like the classic waffle wheels.

they need polishing ..... the spare which is in original condition with the bridgestone radial looks great ... no picture though

IMO you would be better off taking a set just like you have and have them redone and the centers powder coated the gold that you want after all that is the only real difference in the silver and gold rims. and I can tell you from experience and about 10 of the gold rims, it doesn't stay very well it corodes off quite nicely.

Ok i did some photo shooting for y'all and me too i guess here are pics of all of the factory rims that I know of for the SA and FB chassis IN 4x110 pattern (ie no GSL-SE)

ok we have 4 factory rims LE(79), Standard, Rotor (non US), Rare early type

then we have standard 4 spoke and 80 LS edition(BTW also on some J-spec models) notice both shod in OEM Rubber

next we have the 83 LE BBS rim, and base model steel from an FB(late FB if memory serves me correct)

Finally base model steel SA type (and FB upto 83 I think)

Last I know i showed one before but I had to show this too..... SHINY,SHINY,SHINY NOS

Like in a previous post these are the ones you don't think so just photoshop that on your car.

Nice collection there RD. If I had an SA I would like it shod in the Almex or the ones in the last pic. Thanks for posting the different wheels. I know you have a very extensive collection of rotarys, you should post more and keep some of these guys straight on what's what with the 1st gens.

Off subject, I have a REPU with and auto that I wish to convert to a manual. If you have a spare pedal set and related parts that I need for the conversion, please PM me with an offer.

thanks , very nice display for sure

not sure where you started the order of the four '79 rims you showed , but for clarity , the top right corner rim is the 79 LE
