radio static / condenser?

My radio reception has started to get some static. It seems to eb and flow with the running of the engine. Could this be a bad condenser? I seem to remember that the condenser has something to do with that. I found a condenser mounted at the rear of the engine block by the flywheel inspection hole. Think I should replace it? And.... are all condensers made equal? The manual just says "condenser". TIA

Ya know.... why the h3ll do these cars have a condenser anyway? I thought they were for the old points-type ignition.

Noise introduced into an audio system is usually indicative of a grounding problem or you have a power wire running parallel with either the antenna line or a low level RCA type audio cable somewhere in the car...

It's used to supress any "noise" from the ignition system. Are you getting a buzzing noise that increases with engine RPM? Gee, my radio reception is practically crystal clear with the Radio Shack antenna, and I'm still using the old antenna cable. The condensors are not all alike either. From my experience, they rarely go bad. It sounds to me that this is more of a wiring issue that needs to be further investigated.

UPDATE: I replaced my spark plug wires and the noise has gone away.
