Cool radiator misters

anyone set up a system to wet the radiator for extra cooling? it gets damn hot here and the traffic is awful so im looking into a little extra insurance against overheating...i did a search and nothing came up...but anyways i just wanted a simple setup that could be turned on with a normal switch...any ideas? thanks

I'm not sure how effective radiator misting would be but If I were you I would rig up a system using a windscreen washer pump and bottle out of another car and a spray bar made out of some copper brake pipe or somthing similar with small holes drilled / cut into it and the end capped off ... I don't think it will make much of a difference ... youd probably be better off with an electric fan so you can turn it on as soon as you hit traffic and not wait till it gets hot enough for the stock fan to cut in (works a treat on our MG metro rally car )

Instead of a mister system you could always run two electric fans, a pusher and a puller. That would probably be the most effective cooling system.

one electric fan should do it, unless you're running a 13BT with the idle set at 2500rpm in 45 degree (celsius) weather in a complete traffic jam. I'm running two 10" electric fans pushing from the front, and my temp guage never goes above half, even in the 40 degree (again, celsius) weather here, in stop-and-go traffic.

I plan on running just one, but I was just saying if you really want to be extra sure you could run two.

yeah, one 12" or 15" fan should cool sufficiently.... you don't want the car running too cold now, do you? Don't want to have to deal with the choke kickin' in!?

yea, too cold would be bad. I wanna get a 15" black magic. That should do just fine for NJ heat.

anyone know how much the Black Magic fans cost and where to get them from?

i just got back in from off the street and i didn't like what i saw on my tempurature gauge ... so i think i want to revamp the whole cooling system.

I still use the stock fan and my temp runs around 1/4 but never 1/2. with a 160 degree thermo. cools fine and I live in Texas.
