is racing beat really that quiet?

is racing beat really that quiet? is it quiet enough so that my mom will stop bitching at me..compared to a 3 inch pipe right now (crap job straight pipe with fat hks tip)? does racing beat exhausts set off alarms? im talking about the full RB system with road race headers, street port center section, and true dual primaflow....for a gsl-se btw....any other suggestions

I have the full RB streetport exhaust for the 12A. It really is that quiet. At idle and gentle cruise anyway. It will howl at WOT, so it's a nice trade off, but you may lose some power since the muffler isn't a straight through design. Another route you could take if your handy with a welder is buy two cheap mufflers that will fit, cut them open and repack them with stainless steel wool. Dj55b (Sam) did that with a FG packed Borla that blew up on him and it made it considerably more quiet, and was much cheaper than an RB setup. He has a thread somewhere out there, do a search of all his threads you should find it pretty easily.

lol "blew up on him"..thats great advertisement...LOLOL thank you..i feel a little more confident about RB now that i know its that quiet....i would love to craft my very own muffler but i wouldnt know what parts to buy and furthermore....there arent too many "friendly" welders out here so it might end up costing more...thank you though !

yeah. I don't know what it is but slowly being a welder turns you into an *** hole. I use to be such a nice guy. But I have noticed the older welders are even bigger *** holes. and retired welders are just plain mean.

Very strange, and yet very true about the welders... Must be the gasses you guys sniff or something...

And yes, RB exhaust will put you to sleep. It's actually louder (and sounds better) inside the car than outside. I used to let off the gas whenever I'd see a cop, just so he wouldn't harass me for a loud exhaust. But the first time I let my buddy drive my car at an autocross I almost cried. It didn't sound nearly as loud (or as cool) as I had believed for all that time. You could go by a cop at full throttle and not get a second look....

I want a Mindtrain exhaust dammit!

I have an RB setup with no presilencer and it is very quiet. Too quiet. Doesn't get that load when you open up on it, either. But then again I'm just used to my old straight pipe. It has a sweet tone (atleast mine does, I've heard some that have been weaksauce) but its definately not loud. You won't attract any attention with this exhaust, whether it be from a chick or a cop.

I think the thing with welders is just like the way things used to be if you owned a pickup truck (before everybody and their dog started driving them):

Once all your friends find out you can weld (or haul stuff), they never stop pestering you to do stuff for them, for free, with your free time. Enough of that will turn anyone into an *******.

The RB muffler has a nice tone to it, and it is neighbor-friendly, until you unleash the hounds.

sounds good i think im gonna have to get the RACING BEAT....i really like the rotaflow or the mindtrain idea, but they all seem a little impossible at this stage...there arent any other AVAILABLE exhausts setups are there? (pacesetter need not apply)......and has anyone seen that RB rotor muffler....do u guys think the 2.5 inch one will be loud? but its so cheap that i think its more for race application and wont really muffle anything...

I've got the RB race exhaust on my FB...I just swapped in a 13B 6-port half-bridgeported engine that I built for my buddies FC. We took the baffles out of the exhaust ports so we could open up the ports a little better when we built it for his FC years ago...anyways in his FC with 2-1 headers and straight through exhaust, the exhaust was unbearably LOUD. If anyone remembers the rev session at Sevenstock last year, it was the loud *** red FC with the black hood and body kit.

In the FB, I've got a set of TWM ITBs for induction along with the RB exhaust and its really quiet at idle but sounds great when you get on it. I had thought it would be way louder but we'll see when I take it for its first drive.

Ya its pretty quiet. I got rb headers, straight pipe, to my rb muffler. Nice at WOT. The muffler keeps the noise down, and holds some power back though. I plan to go rb header, some presilencer, to the universal rb muffler in 2.5". Should make good power and not be to loud. Will also have great tone to it.

I personally think that the full RB SP exhaust on an otherwise stock Nikki-carbed 12a sounds really good.

I quoted you Kentetsu because you were at the auto-x and can say (if you remember, I can't even remember what mine sounded like outside the car while my room mate was driving) how the full SP exhaust sounded.

Agreed. My RB SP system is quiet at idle, sounds great inside the car when driving, but doesn't have a low, throaty sound that you'd expect when listening outside the car. It sounds tinny and harsh when driving near curbs or other objects which reflect the sound back to you. Wish it had more growl from outside. I actually thought that I had leaks when I first drove it years ago.

I'd probably post some videos when I do that. I don't plan on it for a long time though. It will be after I go 13b 4port which won't be for another year or so as I got other plans too. It will definately sound better, no ting sound. I'll have nice piping from rb. Not their rotor muffler though, The universal one.

Does the RB exhaust ever get seasoned?

Reason I am asking, My father has a Miata, and put the RB muffler on it. It was EXTREMELY quiet (basically stock sound) but after a few months it has seasoned and you can hear it much better. My brother just picked up a 3rd Gen Miata and put a brand new RB muffler on as well, and it is quiet. I can start to hear him "burn" through it.

I have the RB rotor muffler on my 12a. I have headers, straight pipe, to muffler. It is very loud, but haven't been pulled over yet. I am positive I got more hp than the powerpulse muffler. If I can figure out how to load video to my computer I will post a link.
