Manntis has two words for you:
Buckle up.
Today Manntis was going to see his family in BC when he turned a corner on a mountain road and found that the traffic was stopped. He did his best to avoid the traffic and hit the side of the mountain. Pamela spun in a barrell roll, flipping before ending up upside down in a creek.
The car is totalled, but Manntis is fine, with only a few scratches. He is hoping to salvage the car for parts but there is no hope of fixing Pam. He'll be back in the forum in a few weeks and hopes that any silence between now and then will not be taken as any snobbery.
He's beside himself right now, and I talked to him at 2:45 am Sask time. He's happy to be alive, but saddened that Pam is gone. Understandably he's a little blitzed right now, and so am I. He's hoping to enjoy his father's wedding, which was the reason for the trip, and hopefully build the Miata suspensioned RX-7 that he detailed in an earlier thread.
Godspeed to everyone.

I sure hope so. I'm just happy the guy is still breathing, 'cause as he described it, there were literally pieces of the mountain sticking into the cabin. I've been lucky to actually know Manntis upclose and in the flesh, and he's a good guy, and a good friend. We need to just send him our support right now, and count our blessings that the 1st Gen Forum didn't lose someone tonight. I'm pretty blitzed right now because I just got home from the bar, and probably a little maudlin, but still, I can't belive that Pam is gone. More importantly, D'arcy (Manntis) is alive and well, and will be a RX owner again.
Take care, everyone.

Now is when we all need to go to his website, and start buying all the stuff we've been "looking at" over the past few months... what better way to help a fellow "7" owner get a new ride?

Manntis,
Anything you need for your next car/project I will help the best I can. You've been so great to this forum, and it's just very unfair what has happened to you.
I am very thankful that you were'nt hurt. (besides your heart.)
I would be happy to cut you a deal on anything I have to get you in the seat again. Really I mean it.

That is truly terrible, terrible news. I'm relatively new to the forum and spent a lot of time silently looking up stuff and know how informative Manntis is on the 1st gens. Thank goodness your ok. I'd be more than happy to help any way I can.

Goodness gracious! I'm really sorry to hear about this accident and the loss of "Pam". I know you really loved that car and I can only imagine how upset you feel right now. Just remember, you're alive - that's the most important thing. Cars can be replaced but lives can't. Good luck to you Manntis.

From one 7 owner to another, I feel your pain, but glad that you are ok. You will find another 7 though and make it better than your last one was. Better, stronger faster.

I'm in a bit of shock myself. I've ridden in Pam, heck I even managed to drive her once, with Manntis riding white knucked in the passenger seat. Not because I was driving her badly, but because she was his passion. That car was definately the best 1st gen in our town, probably the best one in the province. It was indeed on it's first battery, and it was every bit as immaculate as it looked in the pictures. Pam may be dead, but the strength given to her by the designers of the car saved Manntis's life.
