quick diff question

recently my rear end died on my 82 s. after many tries to unsuccessfully start my other 7 ( thread about this is here https://www.rx7club.com/1st-generation-specific-1979-1985-18/need-help-no-start-condition-668715/ ) i located a rear end. it came off of an 83 GS (not mine ) and has large axles, but is still open diff. i will be using this rear end for a while but my question was this...since it has the large axles could i possibly use an LSD pumpkin on it and keep my drum brakes? i know it would be more feasable to just pull a rear end that has the disc brakes but i was just wondering if it could be done.

As long as the axles are the same, the pumpkin can be swapped. Big axles also allow the use of Miata diffs.
