question for the gurus
how much stuff can you take off of an s5 and put on an s3 (85 gsl-se) take for instance the shifter, cause the **** wont just fit on the s3 shifter , umm brakes, tranny? STEERING WHEEL?
i have a 1990 gxl s5 and its for sale but no one seems to have any interest so i think im gonna swap what i can to my s3 and part the rest of the car out

i think...
79-80 = S1
81-83 = S2
84-85 (SE or not, doesn't matter) = S3
86-88 = S4
89-91 (no such thing as a 92 rx7 in america) = S5
93-95 = S6
The one thing I'm not sure about is whether the 96+ cars that were still made in japan are S6 cars, or whether there is enough differences to call them S7. Whatever, that really doesn't matter to us now does it.

My little brother imported 3 crash damaged ones and got 2 mint S7's out of it. I couldn't tell you what the main differences are but I know our new crash impact laws don't allow the S6 to be imported anymore but the S7 is fine. I suspect that mecanically they are very similar.

I don't know what series it would be but I do know that in by 2000 there were already five different five different FD's (four minor changes)runninng around there starting from 92 and up to whenever they stopped making them
