nitro ... er ... nitrous oxide can more than hurt you motor ... i've seen it blow apex seals out in pieces, and melt spark plugs. i've seen it shoot flames like a flamethrower. it's just like any other mod ... if you use it incorrectly, then you're in for trouble! if you use it correctly, though, it can do what you want it to do. just make the necessary timing adjustments, flow adjustments, make sure all connections are tight, etc. - you should be okay.

i really don't know what the limits are to how much you should juice a stockport engine, but i remember a similar thread (maybe 3 weeks ago) - i'm tempted to say that 75 was the limit, but don't hold me to that - just do a search!

also, on a side note ... juicing it too frequently will probably decrease the life expectancy of you motor.

yeah search gets you far. i would probably stick with the 50 shot and occaisionall go 75 or so. most say not to go more than 50% of your hp.

Click here to read a very long, comprehensive thread about NOS on a rotary, specifically a 2nd Gen, since the guy who wrote this owns a FC car. He will also help you figure out what is the best set up for your car, just tell him what mods you have. This was archived in the 2nd Gen forum.

I plan to use NOS on my 13B I'm putting together. Don't know what body of RX-7 I'll put it in yet, but NOS is cheaper that a turbo or a supercharger, which I was originally going to run a SC. Turbos and SC's are always connected to your engine, and as you know, pumping in more air so you can pump in more fuel to get more bang for the buck = increased engine wear. Not detrimental, but an increase none the less. One advantage NOS gives you is that its a "free" form of boost at the touch of a button. I say free because a turbo runs off exhaust pressure, which is requiring a small amount of work from the engine to push that exhaust through the turbo. SC's are belt driven, and takes about 10% of the power it creates just to run itself. NOS, on the other hand, is nothing more than a 10lb bottle, a few hoses, wires and switch that are along for the ride. Almost 14lbs of dead weight total. Add a 75hp shot, and you well overcome that. Nos can cause damage if improperly used. If your air fuel mixture is too lean, it can lead to detonation, which can destroy apex seals. Detonation can occur without NOS, or any other form of boost though, it all has to do with tuning your air and fuel mixtures properly. Those are the reasons why I want to run Nos. Read the post mentioned above to learn all about NOS, the different applications, and mods to run it on a Rotary engine.

Hmmmmm, I have to say it since I know someone will (probably peejay ). NOS is not a word. Nitrous oxide, N2O, or just nitrous is perfect. No worries, just one of those things.

Yep, it gets on my nerves as well... it's like calling all turbochargers Garret.

NOS is an acromyn, and it is a pronoun. It is gramatically correct to use it like I do.

So HA!

I'm sure this has been run over and over in the lounge, but if you use it as an acronym, it would be "nitrous oxide system", which is singular. So then your grammar is incorrect

HA!

(you need to modify it with "a NOS")

And no quoting that movie here...
