pwr windows go crooked, then get stuck

Hey all, the power windows on my 84 gsl se worked fine when i got it, but recently developed a habit of getting stuck halfway up, usually when its about to rain.. The electric motors seem to work fine, are the rails that the windows ride in just worn out? Or maybe something just needs greased>?

thanks,
Jesse 84 gsl se

That's funny, I actually did this yesterday. My windows would go up and down, but they had that stutter every now and then. I just lubricated the pivot points and track and it works fine now.

I've replaced the channels and tightened the mounts. The right side window jumps the track every time I roll it down past 1/2 way, and the left side rolls up tilted forward so I have to push the front top corner into place every time I roll the windows up. VERY annoying problem with these windows!

Had the same problem with both the roll-ups and power windows. Roll ups needed new regulators, $75 for two at junkyard. Power windows-I took them apart, pulled regulators out. Sprayed carb cleaner all over to get old grease out. Put thick grease on all sliders and pivot points, then sprayed lightly with WD-40. Sprayed white silicone grease on window channels. Also had to drill out regulator bolt hole (the one on the door frame closest to dash of car) so I could adjust the channel slightly tighter.
Windows work like new!

I actually drilled a new hole in the support bar inside the door and moved the guide-rail near the front of the door back a bit, all better. It's just a case of seeing where it's rubbing or coming out of the track.

Aren't the guts a pain to get out? In my Audi there were large holes in the sheetmetal exposing the power window mechs but Mazda seems to like to shield them for some reason.

I'll look into that plastic arm thing. Off to go tranquilize a supercalifragilistic moderator in the lounge...
