"however i think enforcement should be through education, not enforcement of laws"

Now im only 22, but you hear stories from parents and relatives and stuff, about getting the whip or a rule on the hand or *** when f'in with the teachers. Thats how it should be done again to get these punks of today back in line. Rarely anyone shows respect to the law, let alone the people who are suposed to teach them, and even there own parents cant keep control of there kids because they can't lay a hand on them without going to jail. I've been out of high school for 3 years now and going through it, every year it seems more and more people were getting away with more **** because the the teachers can't do nothing anymore. Its a pretty sad society we live in today guys, and like 64mgb said "I'm not sure why, but it seems like every generation has less and less respect" this statment is so true. I'm not saying that physical abuse if you will helps all but a little tuning in every time they screw with you just might in some how keep them in line with who is the boss. Cops on the other hand have the ability to arrest you and throw your *** in jail, which is good becuase w/o them this world would be fucked for good.

I got pulled over last month, and got 3 tickets all in one stop.

I was on my way home from the girl friends house, and when I came on to the main street I took it to about 6k, shift into second go about to 5k then coast to the light. There is a cop sitting at the light I sit there, then drive through he does the classic turn around. I just preceed to pull over from there.

I dont mind getting a ticket if I am guilty of what I was doing. If I did the crime, then I will pay the fine! Im 19 and I know that!

I got tickets for Careless operation(said I was spinning the tires), modifed exhaust(anything other than stock is illegal) and failure to register my vechile in a timely fashion.(still got Texas plates)

All of the above is true except for the spinning of the tires, I was not spinning them, as they are brand new! But I will argue my point in court. So we will see.

I'd like to say that I was not angry with the officer pulling me over, but with his rudeness toward me, as I thought i was being pretty polite to him. The way he was acting I was sure I'd get a ticket but when he left me with a warning it was a nice relief.

flame me all you want but I have no respect for the local pd
the saying 'you hate the police now but wait until they help you' is complete bullshit, I have never had any experiences with police where they were helping/protecting my self or anyone I know everytime the police are ever involved with me is to harrass me or family/friends.

I have since learned to drive under the speed limit everywhere I go and have started taking driving a lot more serious....what does that get me ????
pulled over three time in the last week for pathetic reasons
1.expired tabs -mine were up to date just not on the plate but in the car taped to my registration card
2. missing front plate -my plate was in the window cause of a parking lot incident which left me without a bracket for the plate
3. cracked front windsheild -I like how the cop saw that I have a crack in the windsheild while driving behind me....AT NIGHT, yeah ******* right when I asked the cop why he stopped me ? his reply was "you have a crack in your windsheild" now I'm not an idiot, this cop came up with that **** on the spot after coming up to the window looking around for anything else he could harrass me on or just so he could take a look around my car and potentially catch me on some other charge. Also I couldn't find my registration on ******* comand so the cop decided to let me know that I was 'wasting' his time..... I LOL'd at him pretty hard, because the fagget stoped me in the first place when his only reasoning was "sir you have a cracked windsheild" I started laughing at him when he said that and he knew that he was being a huge tool and decided to drop it.

As a tax paying citizen who doesn't try to break the law, I feel like I should not have my time wasted on **** like the above mentioned reasons, tecknicly the cop was "doing his job" -haven't heard that before"- I just feel that if the police time is so important they should not be stopping me and others when they have not done anything illegal or dangorous.

Another side note to cops 'just doing their job'
My sister was working for the city, she was forced to park in a very sketchy parking garage right near a well know area for shitbags (transit center) where a ton of **** heads come to gather and sell drugs, jump/rob people and break in to cars basically leading the shaddy life. Her car has been broken into two times in one month in the same parking garage while the local police have done nothing to help her or PROTECT her or her property.
1st break-in. someone pryed the window down on her car and took a cd book, a really nice alpine stereo
2nd break-in. someone smashed the rear 3/4 window and stole her backpack full of her college notes/books/whatever else was in the backpack that she needed for finals, they also stole the replaced cd player from the first break in.

One week after the 2nd break in I was at my skate park (you can see the above parking garage from the skate park so its really close to the park) I was there for basically the entire day and observed two armed bicyicle cops sit twenty feet from the park and watch everybody skate for hours on end, at least 4 straight hours of watching skakeboarders doing absolutly nothing else....just sitting. I was a little fed up with 'the man' and there 'work' for the day and went up to both of them to have a lil chat this is how it went

me: hello officer, working hard at your new desk job ? (cop was the school cop at my local high school then got demoted)
officer: Desk Job? (cop looks confuesed)
me : yeah youre sitting doing nothing ?
officer : yeah were working hard keeping you trouble makers under control (lafs like a complete *** to his partner)
me: yeah, I can tell theres a lot of crime going on here you guys must be busting youre *** right now, does it hurt?
officer: what do you mean ?
me: youre butt ? must hurt from sitting down on that bike seat all day doing nothing ?
officers : Were not doing 'nothing' were are making sure no trouble goes down here.
me : well I have been skating here for 4 years and have not seen anything illegal ever happen here, so crime happends here thats the first I have heard ?
officer : ohhohhohh yeah, just last week two kids were fighting here and the week before that I was called down here because kids were doing fireworks in the park.
me : yeah those are petty crimes imo but deffenetly in need of two armed bike cops, have you ever gone and patroled the parking garage over there (pointing)
officer : yeah everyday we check it (obvious lie to my face)
me : ohh so you probly know about all the car break ins that have been happening there riiiiight ? my sisters car has been broken in to twice in two weeks, are you looking for suspects currently ?
officer ; what day was that ? (conveiently talks his way out of the subject)
me : wednesday the xx and thursday the xx
officer : well I only work saturday-monday so thats not my case.
me : ohh so if if you were working those days the break ins would not have happend ?
office : of course not.
me : Im glad I pay your salary so you can keep doing the great job youre doing, have a good one.
officer : you have a good day to.

Alright if you have actually read this entire rambeling post, it should shed some light into the ******* cops I deal with in my city and why i have no respect to them. They sit on there *** all day with their thumb up it doing jack ****, and what do the cops get : a fat salary, a retirment plan, a pension from the city, full benefits and above all else the ability to power trip on ever person they want at the drop of a dime, sounds pretty gravey to me.

I have more examples but I feel like I have already written a novel and have gotten my point across, so let the flaming by the cop lovers and that actual cop here start.

Sounds like a pretty shitty deal there. But, cops really don't get paid as much as you may think. I can see your stand on it though. Our cops here usually do something. I see them nab speeders and ricers racing all the time and I laugh

i just had a run in with the law about 1 hr ago. i was at a show and 2-4 kids got into a fight out side. they had nothing to do with where i was but the show still got shut down. so out side thes about 50-60 kids on a 20 ft section of side walk. i with a group of friends and where talkin and then this on cop comes busting through the croud and pick out one of my friends that i was with the whole night and slams him aganstr the wall and say the hes the reason that all this is happending, im not going ot lie, hes not the most perfic liikin kid, but the cop then gos around singling out more kids and taken info on them. the used way ntomuch force for the situation

Like it or nor, you get what you give. If you start off with an attitude, you get one back. Granted, some of them are hardasses no matter what. Had you had your tags and front plate on, chances are you wouldn't have even been stopped. If you gave an attitude, then they start looking for more things.

I am always polite, say Sir, smile and tell the truth. That has gotten me more warnings, instead of tickets, than I deserve.

Try that the next time you're stopped, you might be pleasantly suprised.

Im a very polite guy. I wear a suit everyday and dont look like a troublemaker.

My car does look like "HI I AM RACING"

Cops get respect from me IF I get respect from them.

Im always very respectfull to begin with, but if they come with an attitude out of the blue, I can be a real pain in the *** (I`m a lawyer)

I`ve been insulted, cursed. yelled all before I can say "good evening".

YOU ARE NOT WHAT YOU DRIVE

Why most cops can´t get that?

i had a state cop pull me over in my escort because my exhaust was broken, and i was on a pretty busy road, and as i was slowing down, there was a small road off to the right, and i turned down this road for his safety, and i had my hazards on so he didnt think i was attempting to evade him.. and then there where mud puddles all over, so i was trying to make him not have to walk throught them(find a clear spot) and he got on the loud speaker, and told me to stop the car. so i did. he approached my car, and i tried explaining what i was doing, and he just said, we choose where we want you to pull over. i was wearing kakhis(sp?) and a dress shirt(not my normal attire, but i believe that had alot to so with it). so im not complaing, just sharing my experience, i thought he was kinda rude, considering i was doing it for his safety/comfort, but he did just give me a warning.

cops always shine their flashlights in your eyes at night so that 1: they can see inside your car well for any weapons and 2: so that if you have a weapon, you can't see well enough to hit anything. it's a safety precaution.

that said, sounds like the cop was a dick, but you need to learn more about the protocols of a standard traffic stop.

depends on where, if you are willing to be a cop in Oakland, CA (high crime rate, and currently hiring) you make >$60k your first year and >$85k after 3.

Bite your tongue, who cares if he's right, just go along with it, be agreeable and don't lie about what you did, that doesn't mean admit to something you didn't do but if you were playing and got caught, wear it like a man.

For all the bravado you will get tickets and repeated harrasment. If you give them attitude, you'll get it back and more, remember he's just a guy like you, if he's having a crappy day and you give hime *****, well.... what would you do?

It's not always right but the system is what we've got and it generally works, cops are so scared of lawsuits these days they're scared to not follow the letter of the law.

Where that sucks most is, they don't pursue crooks like they used to, its easier and more profitable to hand out citations.

when I get pulled over I do act polite and kind to the cops, they still pull me over even tho i have cleaned my driving up a ton from what it was. I like to have all my info out ready for him and look them in the eyes. But I still get pulled over, I don't know I guess I just get fed up with the power tripping ones and it seems to me like they out number the cool one 5-1.

as mac dre says "if you get a ticket...deserve it"

That may be.....but these guys dont spend their whole career sitting on a bike seat! Those same two cops might be involved in a gang shootout or a robbery,or a carjacking...tommorow.....or right now,for that matter!
The uncertainty of their job dictates that you respect the work they do,even when they appear to be doing nothing. To go from a leisurely conversation over lunch, to a life and death situation..... in seconds,...potentially every day they come to work....
Police and soldiers get all the respect from me.

So they arent deserving of their pay, pension, benefits, ect? They have their slow times at work, just like anyone else.....but their busy times, could and do, consist of defending their lives and the lives of people they dont even know.

I have a friend that installed Altezzas on his Honda, he got pulled over all the time, even though they were legal. After getting stopped several times, I think he became a marked man by the city cops. They do talk amongst themselves, but one particular cop kept stopping him. He finally went back to the stock tails, didn't have trouble after that.

It depends on the location to whether police have a quota. In most places yes, there is in fact a quota

You're wrong. I'm a law major. you're WRONG! Quota's fall under entrapment. If there is no or low crime then there is no crime. They'd have to start nit picking and making crime there fore entrapment. There is no such thing as police quotas in the Unites States of America. PERIOD I'm so sick of people trying to argue about it cause they heard about it from a friends uncle who used to be a cop.
