Most camber plates I've seen are upper strut mounts with pillow ball joint. the mount itself does not move. The strut bar goes on the topside and the camber plate goes on the underside(naturally because its part of the suspension) and never come in contact. Let me see if I can find a picture of it online somewhere and I'll post it.

Exactly. Only time youd have trouble is adjusting caster. Youll have to loosen it all to make the adjustment. But how often do you need to do that?
EDIT- Come to think of it, you might end up slotting the strut brace holes if you change the caster settings.
