I woke up hung over from SAT night and missed the freaking event.

I remember my first time at the track with my first RX7. I was so nervous I forgot which one was the clutch and the gas pedal. My knees where shaking and all my friends screaming from the stands.

Track and street racing are two complete different things(at least mor me they are).

******* clutch that sucks!!!!

see you on April 17 Alex.

Robert, thanks for the thumbs up.. I know she has a lot more in her, it up to me to get it out of her.

The clutch was a white "star" clutch from BNR Racing here on the forum. Piece of crap could've cost me my legs.

I will be replacing it with an ACT Extreme..

I think the tranny is fine, just need a new bellhousing.

I really cannot believe the difference of running at the track (with a helmet, 5 point harness, and 6 point cage).
as opposed to the street.

BTW, my car weighs exactly 2650 in full trim with a half a tank and the full cage in. Heavier than I thought..

Luis, read the thread, I posted a little bit above.

Yep, the helmet makes a big difference. You can't here you motor, don't know what RPM to take off, don't know when to shift....etc.

Also it always seem like my tires never hook up at the track.

Anyways, congrats on the 12.6.

Steve, you smart @$$, where have you been?!? I have to re-learn to drive it at the track, but I will. Next time I go, it will be a "Test & Tune" night so I can get many passes without the hurry or the pressure of an actual Event.

Steve, did you have a shift lite?

I am gonna put it back together slowly, and make some changes. I want to make sure it's NHRA legal, so I won't have to worry about passing the tech inspection in the future either. Once you re-locate the battery, they give you all sorts of crap, even though it's a street car.

Congrats to you for going to the track and staying with it even though you weren't at your best. Every one starts somewhere.

What can I say, you and your car are awesome--keep up the great work. Sorry to hear about the clutch but I'm glad you didn't get hurt.

Nice! Glad the scattershield was on....

Just how crappy was that 60ft time?

I had the same problem of not hearing the buzzer after my last round of exhaust mods. Hadn't even noticed while driving on the street the few days before going to the track. Need to crack into my cluster and have the buzzer fire the currently-disconnected shift light, or something external.

Wow! bitter-sweet I guess? You know it's capable of a 11 but you had to go ahead and blow the clutch instead! Witch star spec clutch was it? 4 puck sprung center? If so I have the same one and now you're getting me worried ! How did you make a scatter shield?
2650 sounds about right, that was without you in it right?

I just checked and I have the "stage 3" spec clutch? Is it the same as yours?

shift light

Mine was 2720lbs with me, spare tire, tools, spare parts and 60-70lbs of water.

Get a shift light and put it right in front of you. I originally put it toward the middle of the dash and could not see it. It made shifting the car so much easier. Shifting at the right rpm for a given gear made my car consistently faster. Every gear change was at a differant rpm for me. I set the light to come on at 6400rpm for shifting in to second gear and just waited a second or two after the light came on to shift in to third and fourth. Any thing that will relieve some stress and allow more focus on keeping the car straight is always good.

Nice times for your first time at the track. I know you had a good time even with the mishaps.

Now waiting for the other street driven 1st gen turbo cars to get some 1/4 mile runs.

DirectFreak, check you pm if you need a bell housing.

4 puck sprung center. Same as yours and Mikes.
You SHOULD be worried. It was bad.

I bought the scattershield. It needed minor trimming to fit though.

2650 with half a tank, and the full 6 point cage in it. No, without my big *** in it.

Chuck, I have a penlight shift-lite I am gonna re-install for the track events. Hopefully that will help alot.

I got the scattershield from a friend of a friend. It was his last one. I need to see if he'll make more. I'll see if he'll make more for the "gang" here. It's NHRA required too.

Moroso on saturday the 22nd

hello everyone , i must say that alex has a hell of a setup on his FB. i was there on saturday @ moroso and got to kind of see him run while i was waiting on the side to run myself and i must say the car moves . and i have to second the fact that runnin on the street and then at the track is totally different . i myself on my first run couldnt hear the rev buzzer and when i went to shift to 2nd couldnt get it in,it was at 8k rpm(ooops) . finally went in to gear for a 16sec@102 mph . 2nd run was 14sec@101 mph with wheel spin on 1st and second then short shifting so i could get it into every gear . then they freaking closed the track . bummer . but i cant wait to see alex's car back in action as soon as possible . looking at his engine compartment at his house was breathtaking ! i think Al has some tricks up his sleeve for his return . ALEX dont forget to remind me tommorow about the spare radial .

Alex, now I'm scared.. Have you taken the clutch out of the car to examine yet? Think a strap let loose on the pressure plate or maybe some of the screws backed out? I'd like to see some pictures of the carnage. Now I'm thinking I should drop the trans and inspect the clutch.

So the scatter shield was just a homemade deal? I'd like to see a pic of that also if you have one. How thick is it?
