project cheapo se buildup

ok so I did some searching and i surf this forum a lot but I just want some solid advice.

I have a gsl-se that runs beautifully but I was looking to do some work to get a bit more power out of the motor

anyway, as the title suggest I am a broke *** college student.

I know lots of people with random dissembled Fc's and also a guy who is a genius with megasquirts and might be able to hook me up cheap and do tuning.

So I'm thinking maybe megasquirt the car, upgrade to Fc ignition, and switch to the later 13b intake manifolds? If i megasquirt the car I would then get rid of that stupid trap door MAF so I could build some sort of intake.

Anyway what do you guys think? would these mods be worth my work or is there a better way to go in the realm of cheap things to do.

note: I need to pass emissions so i can't remove air pump.

You should maybe look into the suspension and braking first! And get the car running flawless. After that go ahead with the mods, just some advice!

I did all suspension work on my last car and while believe me I know the virtues of a well setup car I just feel like messing with the motor for a change.

As for the exhaust, it sucks because I am from Pennsylvania which has emissions laws but I go to school in South Carolina where they don't! it kills me

but seriously does no one have any experience with they specific little projects?

with your plan you mite not be able to pass, maybe if you have one tune for passing and after you leave retune it ect. since its a ms unit you can save "tunes" to a laptop. so save and burn a stock passing tune and back it up to cd. and do the same for the tune that you get for more power ect. iam not sure how doable it is but thats the only way i can see you getting more power and still passing.

or you could move to mass and not have to worry. god i love living in a state like mass. after august of 08 any thing 94/95 and older just needs to pass safety o yeah .

There is a guy here in Colorado Springs that I talked to that stands 100 percent for the mega squirt. His car has 300,000 plus miles on it. All stock cept for the cats and the squirter.His car is an 85 Gslse. He told me that he gets better fuel economy and more power when pushed. His car starts better in the extremes of weather also! He works at a place where there is a dyno so he tuned it there. We have emmisions here and he has no problems getting it to pass with the new computer setup. He built the mega squirt himself too!

you get the parts and make it your self right. i have seen a 5 hp b&s lawn mower motor with a turbo running ms with fuel injectors ect. funny as hell but it did run.
