I am ordering a Sterling Carb, but will have to wait 6+ weeks for it. I am sure it will be worth the wait!!
In the mean time, a buddy of mine (thanks Caleb) is loaning me his old Yaw modified Nikki.
Check out the "old school" RX-3 non emission manifold I am bolting it to! It is the manifold of choice for old school road racers.

I just stumble across this thread. I race locally w/ Kentetsu. I had an FC that I ran for a bit in FP years ago. The pluses of prepared is that you can really fabricate parts and that you can run true slicks (you can always find take offs from the road race guys). The downside is unless you have another FP competitor local or are truly built to run for pax you really have a hard time judging your improvements. Anyways you got a good deal and should really have fun with it.
Other classes you could run are E Prepared if you fully prep to E Prod road race rules. And for me if I ever do another stripped out 7 I would definately prep to X Prepared and run an LS series in it.

Got a package from Mazdatrix yesterday... Installed some mighty pretty Magnecore wires, new cap and rotor.
Now I need to just get that Carb!
Then off to the shop to weld in my half bar so I can hook my 5 point harness to it.
Also while there I will be experimenting with a new lightweight exhaust I am designing. I will shoot pics when I get this done.
I still am shooting for my first event on May 3rd.

Got my new muffler yesterday. It is a fully stainless Borla High heat resistant muffler. I will be making an exhaust that is basically the RB header, stainless muff, then side pipe out in front of rear tire. I want the exhaust to be as short, lightweight, and as low restriction as possible.
Cleaned the engine compartment good with Simple Green. Installed new cap, rotor, Magnecore wires.
Pulled the Carb and intake manifold off. Ready for new carb.
Stripped the ratsnest of all un-needed wires.
Car is slowly getting there!!

Continued doing more work today. May 5th is getting closer and closer!!!!
Started pulling more un-needed junk off the car. Trying to get the car "ultra-light". The class I will ultimately be building the car for allows a minimum of 1900#. I am hoping to get lighter than this to where I can put weight back where I want it.
Today removed winshield wiper assembly and blades, headlights and motor, rear view mirror, some sound deadening stuff, both horns, and cleaned up more wiring.
Also installed my seat belt harness today.
BTW, here are a couple of pics. One of the seat, the other some more crap pulled out!!

Well to be honest with you....the only deadoning I have pulled so far was easy. When I had my windshield wiper motor out, there was some brittle sound deadoning there. Came out pretty easy!!
Still it was about 2 pounds worth of crap.
I saw on another thread they were talking about taking the headlight motors out to save weight. They were saying the motors weigh about 5 lbs......NO way they are that heavy. Maybe 2.5-3 pounds max.
Still just on my exercise yesterday I pulled about 20 pounds out of the car.
Next phase of weight reduction will be a lot more drastic!
Also I need to do some personal weight reduction as well!!!

Added a new exhaust system to the autocrosser yesterday. It is real short and light. Just enough to quieten down the car........... a little.....
It consists of a short section of 3 inch pipe connected to an RB road race header. Then it connects to a stainless 3" Borla muffler. Out of the muffler is a short section of pipe that turns down and out a little.
The exhaust dumps before the axle. Short and to the point!!

ALL dressed up and ready to go to the dance!!
Well she is ready for tomorrow! Got her on the trailer, hooked to the Jeep and ready for her 1st race tomorrow.
