Problerms with front struts... HELP!
Replaced my rear shocks with no prob, I got the front strut off spring is off as well.
So I'm trying to get the top bolt off and the rod is just sinning in the strut. SO since I'm removing the shocks anyway, I just clamped the rod on the old strut in the vice and removed the nut. Now I got all my new parts installed and I have the same problem with the top nut.
Is there a way to stop the shock rod from turning without a special tool? I know the rod has a flat on top of it for a special tool. That is suppose to hold it in place as you tighten the nut. Is there anyway around this? If not where can I get the tool? I don't want to put the new shock in the vise...
Thanks

I tried that, because of the nylon locking nut it just catches and spins along with my impact?
I used a cutoff wheel and slotted the little flat on the tip of the shock. Then used a grinder to make 2 flat spots on the socket so I could get wrench around it. Put the screwdriver in the middle of the socket and sliped it onto the cut I made. Then put a wrench on the on the socket I ground down. Worked great. What a PITA!
I went with the GR2's suppose to have a better than stock ride quality. We'll see. It can't be worst the old shocks were dry and not working anymore.
