Thumbs down Problems with my 12A

I have a very wierd chugging problem. If i rev it to redline in neutral its smooth and fine. 1st gear is okay, but as soon as i get to about 60kph in second it starts chugging real bad. Sometimes it stalls out so bad that I have to pull to the side of the road and let it sit for a bit before i can start it. Same thing at about 80kph in 3rd, and about 140kph in 4th. 5th Seems to be fine up to 180+.

I cleaned my card out with carb cleaner and a fuel additive, with no results.

Thats not a motor problem, it sounds more like a trans problem to me. Like you are missing teeth on certain gears.

Check your fuel filter. It's not tranny related.

theres a fuel filter under your car, and check the fuel lines coming off of your gas tank.

Yep, either your fuel filter is hella clogged or your pump isn't pusing enough fuel. I'm guessing that it's the pump, myself. It could also be a kinked fuel line, I had that problem and it wasn't really obviously kinked but enough to restrict the fuel flow to like 30 percent of capacity.

My car engine was classified as (not running) when we picked it up. A month later after putting the dash back together and stuff. Spraying starter fluid into the car and starting it up, only to have it die. It was the fuel lines coming off of the gas tank. Sludge litteraly just built up in there. Replace all 3 fuel filters, one coming out of the gas tank, under the car, and in the engine bay. Take off the fuel line on the gas tank, and take it off , not the hole thing. Spray those lines with carberator cleaner or brake cleaner. If you dont have an air compresser, take it to the gas station for air. and replace the fuel pump.

and after you get all that worked out, get some seafoam.

a friend had a similar problem. Standing still the car would rev freely....drive and floor the accelerator and it would choke/splutter. The problem we found in this case was the carb and specifically the secondaries. It had been converted to mechanical, but somehow one of the linkages had moved with the result that only the primaries were working.

After sorting this out the car ran fine.

perhaps your problem could be in this area ie. related to your secondaries ?

Not if you have them wired mechanically. you can open them whenever you feel like it. Mechanical secondarys start to peek open when the gas is pressed a little more then half way. But if you open them too fast the car will bog.

Not really. Keeping the stock exhaust log and replacing the cats with a straight pipe yields a decent sound. The log breaks up the exhaust note and quiets it down quite a bit. It's when headers are installed that it starts getting loud.
