problem with battery HELP!
hey guys, any help would be appreciated.
Today as i was driving, i noticed my voltage meter on my 84 GSL would go down low, then a few minutes later it would go up to normal. Then it would go down, then up. AFter awhile of driving, the voltage meter went to zero, and my lights wouldnt work. the car still ran, but the battery seemed drained out. I got home, and boosted it, and it started again, but then the voltage went down again. I think my connections are on properly to the battery, so could it be the alternator?
by the way, my battery is brand new, so that cant be the problem.
please help!

Sounds like you answered your own question.
Alt, bad connections, fusable links, bad belt, or loose belt.
Process of elimination my freind.
let us know how it turns out, oh yeah if you dont like the idea of replacing something that might not be broke get used to it , just kiddin, grab an 89-91 alt.
Its not hard to figure out the wiring (diagrams are on here) it bolts right up and puts out a ton more amperage.
So even if its not it you still get to say you upgraded something

Try this, simple, disconnect the battery while the car is still running, if it dies the alt is bad, if it stays running the alt is good. At least I think thats how it works...
