Price Check!

Alright I'm looking at local rx-7s, this guy hit me with an email. For reference when he mentions freddy, he means this local rx-7 guru in town. Anyway he is asking a bit high for sure, he's asking for 2200 o.b.o. No way I would pay 2200 for this, I'm wondering what a reasonable offer for this would be so I don't low ball him too much. I will probably be painting it flat black for the time being if I got it for cheap enough.

Thanks in advance btw!

Heres some pictures and a description:

The body says it has 240k km's but the engine was put in last year by fred. I compression checked it last weekend and found it slightly under 100psi (98psi) on all 3 sides on both rotors. The sides differed by less than 2psi, even across the whole motor.
As for how it runs, idles smooth when warmed up and pulls strong. When the motors cold the choke is a little finicky but if you know how to use a choke then all is well. (meaning I jam something behind it for 2 min untill it warms up).
It doesn't blow any smoke.
It's a tad loud at the moment because of a set of freddy headers and a straight through muffler but I have a spare obx muffler in the car ready to go on.

All the major rust work was done about 3 months ago, It has some small surface rust right now but its just showing through a quick paint job on the black section (black painted 3 months ago) which you'll see in the pics and none of it should need metal replacing.

The 7 also has an lsd from an se, new front brake pads, new outer tie rod ends on both sides, new front brake hoses and fuel lines, new plugs, new clutch slave and rebuilt master cylinder.

Also the 7 has 2 brand new all season tires on the front (2 months old) and the front end was aligned when they were installed.

The only major downside to the car is that it needs some interior pieces, all of which freddy has.The shift boot peice of the center console is missing aswell as the plastic around the steering wheel (both minor) and there are some tears here and there, but it the original 83 interior...

pics:

thanks!

$2200 is way too much. I'd say maybe $1200 at most. The rear end isn't out of an SE unless they just swapped the LSD unit into the pumpkin. I'd say it's worth getting but not that much.

Remember guys, it's $2200.00 Canadian, that is not equal to US currency.
I have to ask on the engine, was it a rebuilt or just a used one?

You also have to factor in Area. Meaning in Canada for the rust work to be done that is a major plus. And it cost alot of money to prep and clean that up.
83rx7boy91, You just got a great deal and so did twinkletoes. Those are exceptions to the rule and you don't walk into those kind of deals everyday. In fact it is getting harder and harder to find those "Once in a lifetime deals." And that is good because the price of "Good" cars are going up.
I can't input a price until I know about the engine.

Still does not help me. Compression numbers are decent but I want to know if it is a fresh build. That makes a major difference.

If the motor was done last year and runs strong, it's not a bad deal. Freddy will charge you a minimum $2200 for any half-rusted car he's got lying around... However, There was a gunmetal grey one at a couple shows in Winnipeg this summer that had a perfect interior and prefect body, from what I could tell. If I had had the money, I would have bought it on the spot. that guy wanted $2000 and I paid $2100 for my California creampuff up here... Mine had a dent or two and a ripped seat. I'd say see if you can find a better one around. These things don't change hands that often up here, so it'll probably still be there if you go back in a month... And if your looking for a major project, there's a guy up in Birds hill with 2 cars for $500.....
