Prelude?????
Does onyone have problems beating 80s preludes. I had a jump on a couple of them and they still pulled away.
It's bullshit, i thought those things were slow.

I was dead even in first and second with a Acura CL Type-S and then I pulled about a half car ahead in third gear.
You need some upgrades if you're having troubles with a Prelude...

Its an 81 stock.
And i can usually beat anything with around 150hp.
I kept up with a new RSX, not a type-S.
I don't know they just always start to pull away when im in 2nd.

It was powerfull but he had a lousy tranny in that thing.
We raced all the time. I would almost always win.

I'm gonna get yelled at for this but our cars aren't that fast. you guys do realize that right? we have a 9-10 second 0-60 and like a 17-18 second quarter mile. Those numbers ain't nothing to brag about. If I cared about dragging I definatly wouldn't have this car, handling is where its at.

Did it look like this?
That's mine, and with a lumpy cam, and a straight-through exhaust, and only weighing around 2400 lbs, and the mag rims , I think it'd be a good run for the money against my '79 RX-7 GS... and it costs less to run.. gets 28mpg And yes, it's a CVCC engine, but it only has one carb... but the carb's a 3-bbl go figure... it's an old honda....

Jeff,
You are trying to put one over on us. You know that the third venturi is the size of a pencil, don't you.
Whatever you do, never unscrew the auxiliary valves. You will never get them to seal again.

shhh.... no one will ever know
but yeah, it goes pretty good. it was when they started making them into luxury cars that they went wrong... they got heavier, and heavier, and the displacement only went up by like 400cc.... not enough... haha
the first gen prelude can be a pretty snappy car though with very little $$$ invested. But yeah, stock for stock, an RX-7 should take any prelude.

Is that 3 barrel carb the same one used on the Civic from 1985 and before... I have one on my wagon, with it's 12 Valve engine... It's got primary, secondary, and what's Auxillary???
I understand how Primary and secondary work from the RX-7.. I dunno what the other one is for.

why hasn't anyone asked what mods the Prelude in question has? also, unless i misunderstood, and you're talking about a 1980 Prelude, the 80's Preludes spanned 3 Generations ... so which car is it? I know the '88-'91 cars can be made into real sleepers ... more details ...
