troch...that is way too many words and not enough pics...if you're seriously going to link that as a "pic" thread, use your mod powers to eliminate every post that doesn't have a pic in it. In the meantime...

Sorry, I was working on the radiator install...

Sorry, but I'm not a mod Besides, after spending 9 months building the car, I deserve to be a little 'wordy', lol

I don't really want to take new pics and post them. I had an off road 'excursion' going to the Iowa rotary meet. Still not sure how I managed to save the car running through wet grass that was higher than the bumper at at around 50 mph.

So now I get to redo the front end. If I had the extra cash laying around, I'd buy the ISC Racing front end. This time, that front lip is going, I'm cutting the fiberglass up a couple inches, then run a rubber strip all the way around the front. It will look lower, but I will have more clearance. Fwiw, I was following IanS to the meet, it was raining, traffic was heavy and no, we were not screwing around. A semi broke down in the middle of the heavy traffic

If the undertray looks a little bent, you should have seen it before I hamered it out to get home, lol.

No offence but Troch's Thread Rules, words and all . And if you had any mind in you at all about what he personally did with his own hands , then you would appreciate the words that come along with the pics. This is the car that Iwill be putting a wide body kit on. It is a 79 with a lot of work that has been done to it. I will post more about it when i find out , cause I am in the process of buying it for 3,500 dollars. But i also have an 83 that is stock that is going to get the same treatment. When i can get to it. The 83 will be for my daughter and the 79 will be mine. The pics that I have now are of the 79 that has had work done on it. It has been stored for some 15 years in a storage shed. iI am thinking about putting the same wide body kit on it as Troch has on his. Although i dont think it will be as wide in the front. also it will be getting a BIG Turbo upgrade .

I take no offense at mar3's post, neither should you. When someone requests pics, there usually don't want/need much narrative and if they do, they will ask. That thread is the only one that has the better pics of the widebody shortly after the build was completed.

If you plan on installing that kit, be forewarned. It's a buttload of work and if you trash a fiberglass part like I did,the kit is all or nothing. They will not sell individual pieces, so make sure you cannot only install the kit well, be prepared to make any damage repairs. Fortunately for me,I have developed skills in many other trades that the mechanics of the process are similar and transfer across many different crafts. That and I'm a stubborn old fart that will stay with it until a project meets my satisfaction.

The front fenders on my kit are the widest ones ever produced. Make sure you can find/source at least an 8" wide rims for the front. I'm running 7" fronts, 9" rear right now. I have a set 9" front and 10" rears waiting to be installed after I pickup a few more suspension parts.

My S2 before it succumbed to rust. I'm just in the process of swapping all the gear into another body.

Don't be fooled by the pics. It had extensive rust through the bottom of the rear quarters, behind the bumper and around the hatch channel. Not sure who makes the bumper but I've modified it quite alot from original. The wheels are Performance.

Nice Ride.. but where are the pics of the wheels or body kit???

By the way.. if you took all that time, effort and money to do the engine... why would you not paint the engine bay?

Wheels For A Widebody

hey all you wide body guys out there I have just figured out that the wheels off of my old ladies Ford Focus zx3 fit my 83 first gen so in those regards any wheel you can find from a Focus should fit yours as well as not to mention you can update to any wheel that is an aftermarket that will fit the Focus

The reason the engine bay is not painted is because the car still needs to go back to the body shop for some items. Door jambs, cowling, engine bay, etc come to mind... I'm in no massive rush, and I figured I will be doing alot of messing around with things in the engine bay, making brackets, and a shiny paint job would get scratched up.

Heres a couple more pictures of the body since you seem interested.

Dan, you need to drag that out of the garage and get some better pics. Then members can compare your nice shiney black paint to my 'ratrod' matte black.

Ya I know I wish I could, but the fact of the matter is the car is on jackstands until I can get my grannies rear end, rear CCW's and rear brakes... The stock GSL-SE rims I got rid of so it sits until I can get these things in the mail.. The car has only been out in the sun probally 2-3 times in the last year.
