Is it possible to put a 2nd gen trans into 1st gen SE without modifications?
Can an 89-91 RX7 NA tranny be transplanted into an 84-85 RX7 GSL-SE without any modifications? Has anyone already done it or know if there are any problems with the swap or is it just a straight swap with no modifications /tweaking?
Let me know.

Thank you for the input everyone, but you all have left me with 2 scenarios? They can't both be right, can they?
scenario 1- all that needs to be done is swap the FC NA tranny bellhousing with the 1st gen SE bellhousing and it should bolt right in......or
scenario 2- all that needs to be done is swap the tailhousing and the shifter housing and it should bolt right up
.......so which is it? Please someone (experienced, or has done the swap w/o problems) settle this argument. I can not afford guesstimates right now. Let rotary trans swap expertise speak now...........
let me know which is it?
thanx in advance, rotarypwrd

All Mazda rotaries from 1974 onwards share the same bellhousing bolt pattern.

That would be correct.. Shorten the shift linkage and make a custom crossmember or modify the stock one.
I had a TII driveshaft shortened and put a the correct yoke to bolt up to the rear end also.
