Porting - All Street ports are created equal... or not?
Yeah.. I saw in a few threads about street ports, that people were concerned with the lines and how they blend and such.
Does anyone have any experience with more than one port Job?
I'm looking at several providers of this service. Namely:
MazdaTrix
Atkins Rotary
Pineapple Racing
Peter Farrel SuperCars (Local)
Rotary Performance (RX7.com)
Rotary Performance (Local)
Ummm and I think that's it..
I wanna disassemble my engine, Send off the housings to be lapped and ported, and reassemble the engine myself. That should be the most cost effective way, since I don't have a die grinder or experience in porting.
Thanks.

well, i don't have experience with any of these places. i port my own engines. however, i would say that youre probably not going to get much advantage by using any one of the companies you mentioned. the only exception that i might see is if you have an SE and then Pineapple might be a slight advantage, but you can always buy their sleeves after getting the motor ported.
my point is use one of the local guys. PFS (although they took my money and never sent me a catalog ) is a reputable outfit and so is RP. so i'd say save yourself the cost of shipping and just take the engine to them. i know PFS is in Manassas, but i don't know where RPS is ... so you could drive it there in no time from Alexandria.
just my view ... maybe someone else might have experiences to say otherwise.
