Poly Ball joint bushings: Threat or Menace?
Just put new ball joints on my '85 (for the second time!) and was noticing the extreme folding/stress the boots undergo when they are hanging on the jackstands and even at stock ride height. This tearing of the boots seems to be the main cause of joint failure as this was the cause of the originals demise.
Noticed some poly boots in the Energy Suspension cat. (part no. 9.13105 -also the same number for the tie rod ends oddly enough...) and was wondering if anybody had any experience with using these boots.
Also noticed that P.S.T now has a listing for polygraphite frontend rebuild kits including poly equiped ball joints -drat! Anybody used these yet?
I got the joints from NAPA and they don't have grease fittings (neither did the others); anybody drilled their joints successfully?
Thanks for your time!
Sanspistons: trying desparately to get this %$$&* back on the road before this weekends autocross!!!

Stay away from the grease fitting type ball joints or tie rod ends. The sealed ones are much better.
Poly boots are a good idea as they wont deteriorate like the rubber ones.

They have a "555" inscription on the bottom like the O.E.'s I've seen, think they are O.E. parts. Napa tends to use their own brand stuff unless (like the Mazda) they can get O.E. stuff cheaper.
Thanks for the advice!
