plug wire question
I was wondering, what kind of plug wires does everyone use???
what does everyone find the best???
i recently bought ACCEL 300+ THUNDERSPORT wires
and since purchacing them, i got mixed reviews on them.
They seem fine to me!
But, if i can find better wires, i would prefer to use them.
Thanks to everyone who gives their input!

Neanderthol,
Actually, my Thundersports have 150 ohms/foot resistance, and only cost me $32.00 Can.
They are hard to find in any parts stores. I special ordered them from my work.
(I love working at a parts store, 20% off everything)
If you have the 12A moter, here's the part # 7930
You can get them in red, yellow or blue by adding R,Y or B to the end of the part #. (eg. 7930B is what i bought)
Has anyone found any better???????

I had NGK stock, Accel customs 8mm wires, taylor (running currently) and I can say that it doesn't make any difference (performance wise).
Go with whatever is cheap... The taylors are expensive, but have a lifetime warranty. the NGK are a good price (even @ the dealer) go figure.... Too each there own. But I'm also talking stock ignition system here..

Moroso Blue Max go to http://www.moroso.com/helpdisplay.asp
then do a search for Blue Max once there go to igntion wire@blue Max Spiral Core Spool, tech info. Really good article on spark plug wires pros and cons concerning ohms per ft and why less is not better.

I'm running the Accel 300+ wires, also. They've lasted a lot longer than generic replacements and even the MSD heli-coils I had prior to this set. I purposely sanded off all of the graphite coating surrounding the conductor when I made the crimp ends going for the metal on metal contact. I expected noise in the stereo as a result but it didn't happen. A nice surprise for once.

For the Thundersports, do you have to crimp on the connectors and slide on the boots yourself, or are they already made. Plug and play?

They are all ready to go, no crimping
Just put em on straight outta the box.

I ran the MSD Heli-coil wire...I gave the set to my parents when I stepped up to the Accel 300+ Race set...I did notice a difference with no other changes save that...of course, I also sanded down to the solid conductor on that set, so that might have had something to do with it...how about those Magnecor's? Has anyone actually got a set on their car? Seems to be a lot of hype in the SCCA and in GRM magazine, but I have yet to hear from a real person who is running them...

well, i've always sworn by the Racing Beat (Ultra) wires, but it seems like the consensus is for Thundersports (i've never heard of them) so i guess the choice is yours.
BTW, can anyone give me more information on the Thundersports wires? 150 Ohms/ft resistance, but what about the insulator quality and connections? Are they frail? Talk to me ...

If they're only an evolutionary step from the Accel 300+ Race 8.8 wire, then the quality is excellent. My three year old set still wipes clean with a little Simple Green and they're still completely flexible. It's the same set that I ran on the dyno to kick out the 113 rwhp number prior to the accident...RP streetport with bone stock Nikki...
