Please share OilPan gasket renewal methods
Gentlemen,
Can some of you comment on what is needed to changeout the oilpan gasket.
On another subject, are you having a problem buying parts from the Mazda stores in you area?? Here in Louisville, KY, they will not do anything to help a person who works like most people I Know, 8-5 pm. They want cash for the part before ordering, no credit cards, and you must appear in person between 8 and 5 pm once to pay for part and then to receive the part.
My answer is to buy from Victoria British over the net.
Best regards,
THC

I dont use oil pan gasket. Instead, I use silicon.
to do it, remove the 2 14mm nuts that holds the front mounts.
Jack up the engine from the tranny's bell housing (need a piece of 2x4 between bell housing and floor jack).
How high? Its up to you on how much room you will need to remove the 10mm oil pan bolts.
Once all of the oil pan bolts are out, tap the pan with a mallet and it will come loose. Sometimes, you may need to pry it.
Then remove the 2 10mm oil pick up tube. just let the bolts and pick up tube drop inside the pan.
Clean everything with brake cleaner and use 80 grit sand paper to roughen the oil pan mating surface. The idea is to make it rough so the gasket or silicone will stay in place.
BTW, be sure to have the car in jack stands prior to above procedure AND DRAIN THE ENGINE OIL.

Cool, this should be relatively easy. Provided I don't break anything while jacking up the engine from the bell housing with a piece of wood.
Thanks,
